(By the way, the shot above involved me lying flat on my stomach amongst all the leaves for about 20 minutes as I snapped away. Who knows what the neighbours would have thought had they seen me - "what's that crazy Brit' doing now?")
So this weekend the Hubster decided to take back our world. With the help of a neighbouring child keen to earn pocket money, a blower and his mulcher.....he set about regaining control. 25 full, mulched bags later we can once again see our lawn!
To join in go to My World Tuesday
Thanks for the glimpse around your leafy neighbourhood. 25 bags sounds like it was a lot of work. I did 4 this autumn and that was enough.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of work! Glad you're all cleaned up and ready for the winter!
ReplyDeleteWow oh wow, that was a lot of leaves! I don't envy you that Cottonwood though, they are terrible at making me sneeze. Plus all that cotton stuff during the summer, yegads. Fun post.
ReplyDeletePam - we have the non-cotton producing kind of Cottonwood. It's my fave thing about our yard, as it gives us priceless deep shade in the heat of summer.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us a drowning leaves right now, or have been recently. As for lying on your stomach taking photos of the leaves - well, we all have to suffer for our art, don't we? :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is convinced that one of these days I'm going to be reported to the police or to social services for my birding/photographing/other nature activities. Perhaps if we're lucky, they'll give us adjoining cells.
I love it! It's beautiful even though it's a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these photos they're lovely. Amazing the amount of leaves there.
ReplyDeleteSeeing Hubster on the edge of the roof made me think of the song "Don't jump off the roof Dad". I used to love that.
Also the One Foot in the Grave episode where Victor's boring acquaintance was going to commit suicide on the roof. Mind he did take all his clothes off!
Great My World pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe have leaves all over, too. I like to rake them and put them on the garden and plow them in for mulch. Got any extra? tee hee
Gosh, you put your mulched leaves out for collection? I would turn them into compost to feed the garden. You're giving away a valuable gift from nature with free energy from the sun, full of minerals tht the roots of the trees have brought up, and need for their healthy survival.
ReplyDelete25 bags sounds like a whole lot of work...
ReplyDeleteYou got more leave in one street than I got on the whole of this island.
ReplyDeleteArija - I would except we live in an area with a prevalence of snakes, including Rattlers. Composts are a huge attraction for them and that I do not need in my garden!
ReplyDeleteWow that's some hard work. So many leaves. Love the colours in the photos. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteGreat series of honest Fall pics, it's not all pretty colours, some work too.
ReplyDeleteNice post Sarah, linked and everything! Oh, and I had no idea you lived on a Golf Estate!
Well leafy it is! But you are not the only one I can sweep my back yard every day, but I don't for an hour later you can't see that I have spent a lot of time to clear the mess. Thanks for your lovely comment. I am glad with all those responses.
ReplyDeleteThat is a LOT of leaves! We have nothing like that unless we go to the river. I hate it that my kids can't rake leaf piles and jump in them. If we visit anyplace this time of year, the first thing I do is find a rake and make a leaf pile for my kids.
ReplyDelete25 bags .. scary... all those nekkid trees ...
ReplyDelete:-Daryl (catching up .. I have missed keeping up with you!)
Noticed the flag on your comment at Daryl's and just had to visit you!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby tried to clear our back lawn of leaves today - he failed miserably!
I know how you feel! Plus some are even making a home INSIDE my house! It drives me crazy!
ReplyDeleteOnce a year you're really overwhelmed with leaves. Nice pictures and a lot of work
ReplyDeleteWe have a honey locust right outside our front door and the leaves are tiny. They get everywhere. Since it's not my tree (it's the city's) and I've spent a fortune fixing clogged pipes, I decided to sweep the leaves to the side of the right for the street cleaner to pick up. Apparently the city recently introduced an ordinance making this illegal as it blocks the drains. Oops.
ReplyDeleteTeehee! I always wonder if the neighbors are watching as I'm hunkered down taking 80 macro shots of something for my blog. It always takes me about that many to get one good one.
ReplyDeleteLots of leaves here, too!
That's a lot of raking!!
ReplyDeleteDid you say rattlesnakes?
I've ALWAYS wanted one of those leaf blower things, but mainly so I can run up behind people and give them the worst hair day of their lives.
ReplyDeleteThat's not childish is it ? No, thought not.
Yes oh yes oh yes oh yes. Love those leaves!
ReplyDeleteGood post for showing your world at this time of year. Seems most of us are experiencing the same thing right now!
ReplyDeletethat is a lot of leaves
ReplyDeleteOh how I'd love to have those cottonwood leaves for my blueberry garden! They make such lovely acidic mulch...good job with the mulcher, tho!
