We need advice please....

Our second 'new' microwave in 3 years has just died! The first was a Panasonic, the latest a GE...nothing seems made to last anymore?

So anyone had one a few years with no problems and if so, which make would you recommend?

  1. oh dear! Here's my personal experience from Africa...I was given an LG microwave for my birthday in 2003 - and it's still going strong, despite having been operated for 5 years by teenagers and men, sat on by cats and occasionally drenched by rain from a leaky roof!

  2. Sorry to hear about your microwave.
We were having the same problem a few years back.
Our latest (3 yrs old) is a Kenmore and (knocks on wood)works like a champ. Good luck!!

  3. I've always had good luck with Kenmore - in fact, there's one in the family that's still working after 15 years!

  4. We had a Sharp that we loved. Unfortunately, something got damaged on the move from our old house to this one, where we have a built-in one that we're still using but hate. (It doesn't have a turntable for a start!)

I think this is the closest to the model we had. The Sensor cooking (available on lots of the Sharps) really worked well for us.

  5. We've had good success with a Sharp.

  6. We've have a GE Spacemaker XL for years (knock on wood). It is an over the stove model and functions as an exhaust fan. I don't have a lot of counter top space.

  7. Maybe you should go for the high-end or professional range of them this time around? Like from a home builder supply co.?

We've been using ours for 8 years and no problem whatsoever. Ours is a Whirlpool GOld.

  9. We (family of four) used ours just about daily since purchasing it in 1980; a Montgomery Ward model. It's been great, although a bit underpowered by today's standards. I did have to replace the interior light bulb once.

  10. I just bought the cheapest one I could find, a Samsung and I've had it years now. It gets used every day for my husband's porridge!

  11. ... most microwave oven malfunctions are simply an 18-cent, internal fuse that has blown...

  13. We had a Sharp for years and it was great. I don't remember why (or when or where, it's been so long!) we bought a Panasonic, but it's been a real workhorse for a good long time.
