This new FOX show is a big favourite of ours. It's intelligent, cutting edge, great acting, intriguing storylines and is very reminiscent of the wonderful X-Files.
I was a huge fan of the X-Files from the start and this show has the same mysterious storylines, minus the alien twist. Anna Torv is also the absolute spit of Cate Blanchett, I think she has a twin!
If you haven't watched and you were an X-Files fan, you'll love it.

I love this show as well! I'm glad I gave it a chance in the beginning even though it has it's creepy moments.
Oh she's great - Australian I believe. I've been watching "Mistresses" on BBC America and she plays a lesbian love interest of one of the lead characters.
We've never watched it, but wow on that lookalike business! WOW!
Toni - how funny is that then that she is also an Aussie! I have checked and they're not related, but the resemblance is uncanny! We watched Mistresses for awhile Friday, but never saw her.
RM - I am not a creepy moment person at all usually, but this show and the X-Files intrigue me enough to get past it.
Thanks for the tip. Love sci-fi.
I haven't heard of it but it sounds good! I will try to catch it!
I haven't seen it but my hubby has.
I will see it soon i hope. I'm an X-file fun, too.
By golly, I think you're right. I see the resemblance. My husband likes Fringe. It was a bit too gory for me.
I had just started watching this show in the states before we moved to Oxford. I didn't think I would be able to enjoy because of ... oh, what's his name, the guy, from the show, with the teenagers (height of laziness that I'm not looking this up) anyway, him, the mad scientist's son. Can't stand him usually, but I found I quite enjoyed him in this, and the stories are good, very reminiscent of the x-files. However, at the risk of incurring wrath, my one irritation of this show is the girl. She was driving me nuts in the beginning, it was like every line was delivered with the same intense conspiratorial almost-whisper wether she was handing someone their coffee or trying to ward off an impending doom (unless she was yelling, for the most part she did that quite well). I did figure out why a few episodes in after seeing an interview with her and realizing she wasn't using her own voice. I still have trouble with it, I find it really distracting. Hopefully she'll get more comfortable with the accent but by then it will likely be so ingrained as part of her character.
Sorry, I totally get going when it comes to my Sci-fi. Never saw the look-alike thing before, though, that's cool.
BTW, I'm loving your blog as an expat in my own way over in Oxford. Especially your BWOTD, can't get enough of it.
I LOVE Fringe. I think Walter is the best character on TV. I love his mix of insanity, randomness, and pure genius.
Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't seen this show but I might start watching it.
On the other hand, these days I'm always hesitant to start watching a new series because if it's good it will probably be cancelled in less than a year. (especially if it's on FOX)
YES !! I love this too, and I fancy the blonde lady.
Oh.
Lynn - I thought that was ABC! I know exactly how you feel, we are sick to death of it too!
It's probably all the networks but I always think of FOX because I'm still seriously P.O.ed about Firefly
Maybe because not many shows take place in places I know well, when I watch Fringe I get waaay too caught up in their very poor understanding of Massachusetts geography. I enjoy the show, but that really takes me out of my suspension of disbelief.
I saw an interview with Anna Torv (who I quite enjoy) where she was taking about how it would be fun if someone in the cast tried a Boston accent. Americans doing Boston accents is bad enough, I don't think I want to hear the attempts of two Australians and a Canadian (most especially the Canadian). I know they wouldn't get good help, since now they sometimes mispronounce town names and I just don't think they care (the producers not the actors).
As you see that's my problem, I want Eastern Mass. to be reped more than a good plot. One probably shouldn't look to TV to help with homesickness.
