Today's BWOTD is a great one:
"There's no need to get shirty" or
"Well I think that's a little bit shirty don't you?"
'Shirty' = Aggressive or Obnoxious
This is a frequently used word all over England and guaranteed to draw totally blank looks here! I could have used this a couple of times yesterday to refer to others I had to deal with, not colleagues I hasten to add.

Love it, I haven't heard that expression in ages.
As I am an HUGE anglophile and AVID chatter, I was actually familiar with 'shirty' although I haven't get incorporated it into my venacular!!! I'm such a dork like that though, I'll probably be saying it all the time now.
I love that word and have no idea how it came into being. So is school out now???? I've been a bit shirty myself this week with some folks who caught me when (a) not feeling well; (b) super busy; (c) thoughts elsewhere. Mybad.
Hello sweetie, are you well ?
Hi Sarah, haven't heard that one for ages!! Been catching up on all your lots of posts. great geocaching drama, and yes, I also have a fear of snakes in the loo, especially living here!
Great expression. We also say: Keep your shirt on! Or. Keep you hair on! I love those expressions too.
Since one of the kids (nameless of course) has been regarding homework as optional these past few weeks, I've been issuing the threat that if s/he doesn't "pull his/her socks up", there will be consequences. People (Americans) have been giving me some very strange looks.
I have a Canadian friend who uses the word "snarky" that seems to have a similiar meaning
An Arkies Musings
Haha! I've never heard that one before but I love it.
