Utterly clueless!
We are big fans of Kimi Raikkonnen (aka The Kimster), Ferrari F1 driver extraordinaire and one of the worlds sporting superstars. But oh my, will someone please show this multi-millionaire and receiver of a new Cap after every race, how to shape that bill!We rarely hear his first few words, due to falling about laughing at his 'virgin' and unshaped head gear! The angle I captured here, really doesn't show just how straight across that bill is. And we had just seen him making a piss poor attempt at curving it. But it usually looks like it's been ironed it's so perfectly flat and straight!

When I saw the post title and the photo of Kimi, I was 100% sure you were going to be talking about his personality....or lack thereof.
The whole bending of the cap 'bill' thing must be American and as the wearing of them started in America, that's fair enough. I just wasn't aware that having them like a wannabe Detroit rapper was THE way to wear them.
The brand new ones they are handed are probably geared up for maximum sponsor visibility and maybe there was something on the 'bill' for overhead cameras to pick up.
Then again this was Kimi and well yes, he's pretty clueless.
I grew up out west where caps were worn by mechanics and Boy Scouts. I moved to Texas and then Oklahoma then I got an education on the proper cap design and the curvature of the bill. I never have got it quite right!
LOL! My boys all shape their caps the instant they're paid for.
Ah the bill of a cap ... truly dont 'get' how anyone can wear it looking like a duck's bill but that's where the name came from ... still this is far better then wearing it sideways or backwards which IMO (for what that's worth) shouldnt be worn by anyone over age 3 ...
OMG! We were saying the exact same thing! I guess in his country, ball caps aren't shaped. John said it is because whoever handed it to him to wear doesn't shape it for him. And the sponsor probably requires he wear it. YIKES! But Yay Jensen!!
Yes, I think it is an 'American' thing, especially since the caps are an American invention.
I used to wonder why my husband spent days wetting his cap and forming in around a can of vegetables... I thought him being in the military was the reason, the
'Top Gun' look.
Now after many years of living amongst cap-wearers, I have to chuckle when I see one NOT shaped.
What about our "new" Brit hero Jensen Button? Who would have predicted 5 wins out of 6 races before the start of the new season? He's got a great name too - you couldn't make it up.
I only recently realised that is a no no myself. Ugh.
I am utterly clueless. I had no idea that cap bills needed to be shaped. How could I have missed this important information? Of course, Hubbie doesn't wear caps.
Miles and I always notice that too. Miles tells me that Kimi does it on purpose. It's the style. A skater thing, I guess.
I am not a cap wearer at all and even I think the straight peak thing looks funny. It sort of reminds me of Daffy Duck's beak.
having a 16 yr old son, I have information regarding the 'cap'...know in the 'hood as a 'fidded', pronounced by us Brits as 'fitted'...started by Rappers I guess.
