Weekend antics

Yesterday we headed to the Enid Radioshack and finally got signed up for a decent cell phone provider and service, that doesn't cost an arm & a leg just for voice calls! For about $15 more than we were paying, we now have 1500 talk minutes and totally unlimited web and text services - hallelujah. We also got the very latest Samsung Instinct S30 phone for just $49, which is a touch phone and have had hours of fun with it. I was even able to watch the Formula One qualifying on the phones TV service as we crossed the wilderness to return home, amazing!

After staying up until 2am we have the workings of it figured out! Today we will be using music tracks on our PC's to make our own free ringtones with a great site we found.

On our way back from Enid yesterday we were geocaching and the Hubster had a major Rattlesnake encounter, I will post about it for My World on Tuesday.

So the rest of Sunday will be spent phone fiddling, watching the F1 Grand Prix from Spain, doing laundry, cooking, writing blog posts and getting ready for my final week of school.

And a very Happy Mothers Day to all you mom's out there. So what does your Sunday hold?

  1. Even though I am anti cell phone and just have a pay as you go (which is crap and I find eats my minutes when I am not using it?) I so want a touch phone! Hope you have lots of fun with it!

  2. I'm with M. I have a t-mobile phone that I put $100 worth of minutes on and last year, it took me all year to use it. Then my sister got sick, and I used up that much in about two months. So we are seriously thinking about cell phone plans now. Which we've never been big cell phone users but ... the new services sure are fancy! Happy Mom day and last week of school to you! Did you see my note about using text boxes? It will make your life easier.

  3. Congratulations on your new phone! That sounds like a lot of fun but I hate having to learn new techie type things. I get so flustered.

We're having my brother and his family over for dinner so my mom and I are cooking. Then we'll take my mom out for a lunch at a nice restaurant tomorrow.

  4. Unfortunately its not Mothers Day in the UK anymore. I did send my card earlier in thw week and I sent her a M&S gift voucher. I bought a big jar of Guilt cream, smeared myself in it and then called my Mum today. She's very forgiving. Or at least thats how it sounded.

  5. Dave, don't I know it! My mum was very pleased with the card and gift I sent her....but she still said "it just doesn't feel like Mothers Day to me"! It's not our fault that England chooses to celebrate on a different day to evberyone else.

My friend, we're the kiddo's that deserted the motherland, nuff said!

  6. Thanks for the heads-up on Hubster's encounter. As much as I love reading your blog, I plan on skipping it on Tuesday!

  7. Good luck in your last week of school. Our kids have another month!! You must start earlier than we do.[the day after Labor Day}. I think Mother's Day should be 'Nurturer's Day!
So on behalf of all the people and kitties that you nurture, do something nice for yourself!

  8. I just give a new phone to my daughters, and it comes back to me in about 30 minuted all programmed with all the gizmos working. Nothing like having three kids who are tuned into the electronics world.

  9. Your phone sounds great! My hubby and I are the only people we know who don't have and never have had a cell phone...it's not my idea.

The children sang "My Mother's Gentle Love" to us in church today...so-o-o sweet, and then they gave each mom a lovely carnation. I've had phone calls from 2 of our sons, still awaiting eldest son's call.

  13. I am so jealous! I wish I was tech savvy enough to use something like that! I feel I'm operating at less than capacity.
