My new bestfriend!
This range of products may just have transformed my life! For years I have had to put up with alot of 'negative reaction' from my stomach and bowels dependant on what I put in my mouth. About 8yrs ago I finally had some tests done and it turned up food intolerances to yeast, corn, oats, kiwi fruit and kidney beans. But after completely removing them for sometime they can then be gradually re-introduced , and then you find out where the intolerance level really is. Despite kind of getting a handle on these, I have continued to have problems. Recently I noticed it seemed to be in conjunction with dairy foods, after all there really wasn't much else left it could be, when you consider how many things contain the others. I cut out the dairy for a week before we went away and 'hey presto' no more problems. But also no more cereal, ice cream, smoothies, cheese, butter, strawberries and cream...sob! I tried goats milk and was disgusted, and Soy milk has always made me throw up instantly - no exaggeration! So after reading an article about Lactaid I bought some of their milk on Thursday and being ever the optimist, two boxes of cereal. Well 4 days later I am doing fine, the taste is hardly any different to regular and I have had plenty now with no problems. I just thought Lactaid had no Lactose in it, but it's much cleverer than that: "LACTAID® Brand dairy products have lactase enzyme added to break down the lactose in the products themselves into two simple sugars (galactose and glucose), making them easy to digest. LACTAID® Dietary Supplements contain lactase that helps you digest dairy foods when taken with the first bite. About 75% of the world's population is lactose intolerant." Today we went and got some of their capsules, you just take one with the first bite of any dairy containing food and it will do it's thing. I tested the capsules with a milkshake (bliss after so long without) and have had absolutely no after effects. So if you suffer similarly and have never considered it might be lactose intolerance, I urge to try Lactaid as you maybe one of the 75%. As for me, I will never leave home again without a capsule on my person.

I bow to you - Thank You!! I had never heard of this and have had similar problems to the ones you described ... My mission today will be to try and find some :0)
I had a similar problem but I can eat yogurt & cheese because apparently the lactose is processed out. So I now enjoy my cereal with 1/2 C yogurt - much much tastier than with milk because it makes you feel like you're eating dessert!
My mom loved those products .. she had such terrible dairy product issues .. glad you found it!
I've used lactaid products for years and they are a lifesaver. If I had to choose between giving up ice cream or giving up alcohol for the rest of my life, I would give up the alcohol. I love ice cream!!
Thought I'd drop by as I've seen you around at various blogs we both frequent.
Good to hear about your new best friend. I know all about food intolerance and it's worth perservering and getting it right. Good luck!
Sorry to confuse. Not Damian but me, he'd logged on before me and I didn't notice. D'oh!
Sarah, I am so happy for you!! If I had to cut dairy out of my life, I would be one unhappy camper!
Hi Sarah, I'm so happy you've found a cure. Thanks for popping over to my blog. Jo from South Africa
I'm lactose intolerant, but just stay away from milk except on cereal, which I don't eat very often. I have used this milk and it works, that's for sure.
Congratulations on find a solution to your problem.
75%!!! No kidding? We used to drink Lactaid milk but now drink soy milk. It makes you throw up? Wow! Thank goodness we're OK with it. I'd say 90% of our family is lactaid intolerant. I just made some flan with soy milk and it turned out just fine.
I can't believe you can't eat the best fruit ever - the kiwi! Poor you!
Glad you have found something that works for you.
My father uses that, it makes a huge difference for him as well.
Breyer's also makes a lactose-free ice cream. The vanilla is pretty good; it actually tastes more "homemade" than many commercial ice creams. (my dad eats exclusively that for ice cream; even regular ice cream bothers him.)
I still have no lactose-tolerance problems but as my dad's didn't show up until he was over 50, I'm expecting it could still happen to me.
That's great. I can't imagine not being able to eat ice cream. It's wonderful that there's something that can help.
And 75%? Wow, I had no idea.
Lactaid pills are so wonderful! I hated it when ice cream was making me sick.
I'm a real milk-lover and luckily not lactose-intolerant. But I found your post very interesting and informative, in case this should ever change for me! :)
