Todays BWOTD is one I still use quite a bit:
"I did sweet FA today!" 'Sweet FA' = nothing at all Now I'm sure that some people think the FA stands for something far worse than it actually does. Sweet FA is actually short for sweet Fanny Adams and perfectly acceptable in polite society!
Just stopped by to say hi. I have been the worst follower lately! Ever since my special needs kid got out for the summer I have had little time to even blog on my own site. But I am still a follower and even though I might not always comment, I am still reading some here and there.
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend!
But who is or was Fanny Adams?
ReplyDeleteSee, I thought Fanny Adams did refer to something not so polite...at least the Fanny part, and not what we North Americans would think Fanny refers to.
ReplyDeleteBut now that I look it up, I see Fanny Adams refers to something completely different. I really should start trying to fit these little gems into conversation and see how people react hearing it from a non-Brit :).
ReplyDeleteYes Sarah Sweet FA is quite polite. Haven't said it in ages.
ReplyDeleteI usually say either "nowt" or "buggerall"! not so polite I'm afraid. Quite common really.
That's not what I've heard it means ..... and you know what I'm talkin' about! ha
ReplyDeletePam that's my point, these days with society as it is, even an originally 'clean' comment like this has been taken ver by the not so nice!
ReplyDeleteLol! I also though FA would stand for something far worse than harmless Fanny Adams!
