It's FFA show time in our area and my first visit
It's very much a family affair with everyone doing their bit to help out
Even grandma gets in on the act, blow drying the cow!
Animals look beautiful and owners overflow with pride
Some are happy to pass the waiting time with a snack
Others need a little TLC and reassurance
Most are just blissfully oblivious!
And others just snooze on the hoof
Until their big moment in the spotlight
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the FFA county show, it's a great place for a photographer to find plenty of interesting subjects and action.
To see some great sights around the globe or join in the fun, go to My World Tuesday
What does FFA stand for? My guess: Federal Farms Association.
ReplyDeleteWe have Farm Fairs in Hawaii, too.
Aah my days with Future farmers of America, when my daughter was also involved with this in high school.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the greatest thing, instead of IPods stuck to their ears, and worrying about their nail polish chipping, they are actually working and enjoying what farm life is all about.
Love theos pictures, I feel as if I was there !
Looks like a fun, though in a good farming way, smelly day out.
ReplyDeleteawww,
ReplyDeletewith everyone all gussied up for the show, maybe not as smelly as Rob might fear?
Great shots. Glad you explained that it was a hairdryer Grandma has in her hands...;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great group of shots of all the animals!! I've been to a couple of those when I was growing up in Texas. It's always interesting to see how they react to all the attention! Fun post for the day, Sarah! Hope you have a great week!

They are nice looking bunch of cows and pigs. The FFA doesn't have shows around here - I wish they did.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting these pictures, they brought back memories of my brothers first FFA project. While in high school my parents sold their home in Los Angeles and moved east to a farm area of southern CA. So, here was this city boy thrown in the thick of FFA and 4H. I'll never forget watching my Mom who had tears in her eyes say good bye to his pig project. It was touch and funny at the same time, the memory is making me smile 23 years later.
ReplyDeleteFFA is a big part of rural America. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI loved the pictures! I especially love the cows! They have such lovely eyes. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great shots at the FFA show. I love the one of the Grandma with a blow dryer. They are all great though and the pigs are such beautiful animals in a funky way.
ReplyDeleteSarah: What a neat look at the show. My grandson and I watched one at the fair last summer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of lovely event.

ReplyDeleteIt's great when the family is united.
That looks like a great event. I love aggie fairs.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. And it looks like it would be great fun to go. My kids would just love it! Greetings from Italy via MyWorld!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost time for the livestock show and rodeo here. We enjoy going and watching the cattle with their people. Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteLOL, loved the pic of grandma blow-drying the cow! :) Sounds like a fun day to spend the day... I haven't been to a FFA show yet, but we have gone to the fair in hubby's hometown, Abilene. It's fun unless it's almost 100 degrees. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, I especially love the two pigs snout to snout ..
ReplyDeleteWhst a lovely series of photographs. That's a whole different life.
ReplyDeleteHow FUN!
ReplyDeletePigs all clean and nice always make me want one.
