Why I love my job

Everyday at about 2:45pm I call through to the classrooms and announce over the loudspeaker if there are any changes to the way a child will get home.

Yesterday I called through to the 2nd grade and said "(childs name) you need to ride the bus to your grandma's".

His immediate response was "I love you Miss Sarah"!

I replied "I love you too (childs name)".

I then realised the whole class was listening so I rapidly said "actually I love you all"!

To which the response was "I love you Miss Sarah" multiplied by 14.

And that's why most days I go home smiling.

And, that is a great reason to love your job! Where else can you work that you get 14 different people a day telling you they love you. A great reflection of yourself.

This is so sweet. I was back in the classroom on Wednesday and it was really a high for me. I love that impromptu "I love you." I would also love to have heard your British accent on the school intercom.

I make a habit of walking the 7 y/o into his classroom every day just so I can stand in the cubby area and listen to the banter while they take their coats off. So sweet and funny.

I couldn't help but smile as I read this, how sweet.
Children can be so honest, sometimes that's a bad thing, but as you have demonstrated, most often a 'good thing'.
I'm sure they 'hug' you as much as they tell you they love you also :)
I once was a guest at my daughters school, I brought animals along, and showed the children how to care for them. The teacher said they all wanted me to return, because I reminded them of Peter Rabbit's mommy, it made me feel all warm inside ;)
Loved your story today, it's what matters......

Oh, how lovely. I worked as a School Secretary in England for 13 years and I loved every minute of it. The children never grew up further than 7 years old because when they got to that milestone, they moved up to 'big school' and we got a new lot. I miss that job very much indeed.

Reason enough to love your job. When young children say they love you, they really mean it!
