Well we finally got our longed for snow day in Okieland, in fact I don't think there's a school open in the state right now! The National Guard has been called out around Tulsa where it hit worst, and are using Humvee's to rescue people.
We didn't get alot of snow out here, about 2 inches but it's the low temps, windchill and wind that's the real problem. Right now at 10:15am it's 5F (-15C) with a windchill of -21F (-30C) and up to 30mph wind gusts. Not at all pleasant!
So my plan is PJ's, some tidying up and working on my two quilt projects I have going. I may also put in a fave movie as I stay warm in front of the fire and stitch.
If you're affected too, stay safe and stay warm.
Congrats on your snow day, Sarah.... I know how excited I am when we get our first winter snow... But--I'm sorry it's so cold and windy there also. Kids (even big kids) can't get out in it and play much...
ReplyDeleteBUT--I think you have the right idea... Just enjoy your day inside and relax..
Hugs,
Betsy
The far north is going to get dumped on from what I read with maybe 30 inches and I feel for them. All they are calling for NC is rain and temps that may hit 70. I hope you weather improves quickly.

Sarah, do schools in OK extend the school year and postpone summer vacation to make up for snowed-in days? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your snow day! My family in Colorado will experience temps even a bit colder today wirh a HIGH of -1! Hope everybody stays safe. It's a lovely day here in Seattle.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely got it here. Brrrrr. At least I hit the grocery and The Hubby is here along with little Clayton. Clayton won't even try to venture out, hates the snow and cold.
ReplyDeleteI'm mad jealous, I miss snow days!
ReplyDeleteTWO inches??!! You jest surely? We got that even before the storm. Everyone here seems to be in a complete panic and we are supposed to be used to snow! Thank goodness we have a corner shop and school is around the corner.
ReplyDeleteGigi, no we have quite a few built in every year, so we are usually fine up to about 8 days or so.
ReplyDeleteEPM you do know what's coming your way right!! The Hubster told me at noon this could be the worst Chicago has seen in decades!
ReplyDeleteOur snow day is all about the blowing snow and temps.
YAY, on your snow day Sarah!! Glad you can stay in your PJ's and quilt! Sounds like my kind of day!
ReplyDeleteI loved teaching, but I used to love snow days on those VERY VERY rare snow days we were allowed. Our school rarely closed down.
ReplyDeleteYikes! -30 is awful! I hope you have a nice hot mug of cocoa on hand with marshmallows (if possible).
The storm wasn't as bad as predicted in our area. We have a bit of ice on the cars but it didn't stick to the roads.

As long as you can stay home, warm and cozy in PJs, a snow day is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snow day! i hope you stay warm and cozy in your pjs.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snowday! We just had one about a month ago up here in the northwest!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBrr! I think it was colder there than here today! We got more snow than you though!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your snow day and were able to stay warm. I hope those cold temperatures stay north of us.
ReplyDelete"Stay Warm" is good advice now.
ReplyDeleteSee, I don't get who's being rescued here in Tulsa. We were warned for DAYS about this. The groceries were emptied of food. We were thoroughly warned to stay off roads. So who is out there that's foolish enough to need rescuing? Gah!
