Happy belated New Year!!

Yes I'm still knocking around out here in the wilds of Okieland, it's just been a period of transition and blogging dropped off my 'to do' list for awhile.
I have been with my new employer for almost two months and it has proved to be a great move for me.  I have been welcomed with open arms by my new work colleagues and felt right at home very quickly.  We are not in the new Conference Center yet, thanks to much needed rain/snow and other construction delays but we should be moved in by the end of this month.  I might not be on the much envied school hours and vacations anymore, but this is more than outweighed by better pay and benefits.

My longer journey to work is not an issue at all, I just have to think back to my nightmare M25/M1 journey in England and I still thank my lucky stars for no traffic!  And I am now working in the closest major town to our home so I can just pop out at noon and do the shopping, which is extremely handy. The Hubster has been an absolute star and taken on getting dinner ready without complaint, as he is home 40 minutes before I am.

The weight loss project is going great.  I have been with Weight Watchers Online since early January and have lost 20lbs without too much suffering and deprivation.  I actually believe I may have cracked it mentally this time and am set for success. The key for me has been breaking down the total amount I want to lose over a 12 month period and this has left me with a very do-able target for each month.  This way I am focusing on the small monthly target not the scary total amount!

And I have finally found a professional US sport to love and follow - NBA Basketball.  This has been helped by the stunning success of the OKC Thunder.  We have tickets to see them play the Denver Nuggets this Sunday and are looking forward to a fun holiday weekend.

  1. Hello Sarah - I'm glad you're feeling so settled over there with your new job and a new sport team to follow. I know you must miss the children in the school very much (I did after 13 years!), but now you are 'grown up' into a new environment with challenges and new friends to make and it's looking good, isn't it.

  7. It's good to hear from you. You are so right about setting staged goals in weight loss. I worked on ten pounds at a time, celebrated each benchmark, and then went on to the next.
I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the Thunder, but as a former fan of the Seattle Supersonics the Thunder is a painful subject, since it is considered that OKC stole their team from us. Now Seattle is looking to regain an NBA team by stealing from Sacramento.

  11. Hey Sarah, It's been a long time. Congratulations on the new job, I wish you the best of luck. Awesome job on WW. 20 pounds since January is great! I joined WW again back in June and am now down 50 pounds. I have about 12 left to reach goal. Like you, I think it has finally sunk in that this is a lifestyle change. I feel great and weigh less now than I did before I got married. Good luck in everything.

  12. Think of you often, Brit Gal. I'll be "in your neck of the woods" next week, spending most of the week in Bath, including one special night in The Royal Crescent. And Toma will be doing a screen test with RDF Television in Bristol. So we'll have a proper tea in your honor. Was in WW during Christmas and wondered how you were making out! My father lives not far from the new convention center area so we drove by it often. Exciting!!

  13. Hey, my wife and I are from Norwich and spent 4 amazing days before Christmas in Tahlequah. You are so so so so so lucky as we would literally do anything to move out there but due to tight immigration rules we're stuck in this horrible sunken ship that is the UK! Good to see a lucky Brit out in Okie! Take care, Andy

  16. Hello Sarah. Don't know if you remember me or not, but I did used to visit you when I was blogging before. After Facebook came along, I just sort of quit blogging and am now doing it once again. Wow, your close to me now. I live in Northeast Arkansas near Jonesboro, Arkansas. What part of Oklahoma do you live in now? Glad you have a wonderful job now. Stop by sometime and visit me on my blog. Most of the ones I used to visit don't blog anymore, so I don't really have that many people to stop by. Take care my friend and have a great weekend.
