Brit Word of the Day

Todays BWOTD is one in regular daily use:

"Oh it was a howler, just terrible!"

'Howler' = Blunder or Faux Pas

I suspect the history of this might have something to do with people 'howling' with laughter when somebody blundered this badly, but I have no proof on this theory!

    Prodigal Wife has been telling me a howler is something funny--thanks for the back up on this!
