Cats hate water? Apparently not all of them!

It seems little Bonnie Blue wasn't paying attention when surrogate mom Cal-Jo gave her the lesson on water! It's become more and more apparent daily that she loves water and has no fear of it at all.

The first clues came when she started getting 'in' the shower with us, just sitting on the edge at first, but now all the way in and getting a little wet! Then she started leaping in the bath whenever either of us goes in the bathroom and meowing for the water to be turned on.

She also has a bad habit of standing in the cats water bowl whilst she drinks, and I don't think the other two are very impressed by this!

So tonight we decided to run her a shallow bath and see what she did. Well of course she just leapt straight in without hesitation. We put in a couple of her fave toys and she stayed in it for 10 minutes, up to her ankles in water, splashing around. I just wish a picture could give you sound, as her purring was off the scale. We were expecting her to role over in it at any moment, but she didn't this time.

And here she is with her proud Dad getting toweled off.

Hysterical! I love the photo with the little ring of water from her paw, too! Cute cute cute, but who knew??? Normally they'd claw your eyes out trying to get away from the water. Although we do have Mr. M.G. who is obsessed with watching the toilets flush and has been seen walking the rim of the hot tub recently.

There are some breeds of cat that love the water. My friend had a Turkish Angora that was like that and we had a cat that was part Siamese that would walk the rim of the tub while one was taking a bath. Love the picture.

Our current Abby, we had to get rid of the self watering bowl because she kept triggering it so the water would glug out and then all over the kitchen floor. Now she just dips her paws in and splashes water all over.

We have a year old cat that is the same way. She LOVES to play in water and isn't the leat bit afraid of it. For awhile she would take a shower with my daughter every morning. If I have a glass of water sitting on the table I have to really watch her because she will put her paw full in and then flick it everywhere!

We've had lots of cats over the years and NONE of them ever liked water! At least you have one very clean little kitty! Too cute!!

My cat sleeps in the bath. It's the only safe place where the children can't find her! She's not the slightest bit bothered if there is water still in there from bathtime or if one of the water-filled toys lets loose it's load while she's in there.

Aside from the love that pets give us, they are so entertaining! Life without them would be dull.

Oh Sarah I am not sure who is cuter .. that is such a good photo!

Gus often sits with his front legs wrapped 'round the water bowl .. keeping Rose from drinking is his main objective I think but he also likes to dip his paw in and fling the water ...

Now I wonder if he'd be interested in a splash in the tub ... on second thought .. I think I wont encourage his impishness.

I have a cat that is fascinated with water, too. If I'm taking a bath, he wants to sit on the edge of the tub. Frequently, his tail flops into the hot water, but he doesn't seem to notice. Once, when I was taking a shower, he got up on the edge of the tub, between the curtain and the liner. When I pulled back the curtain, it apparently startled the poor thing, because he actually screamed! It was like a kitty version of Psycho!
