The ultimate instrument of torture??

Well Spring is here and so in the interests of probably having to reveal my pasty legs to the world shortly, I got out the dreaded Depilator on Monday night!

In the winter months I let my razor do a pretty good job, but come the hot weather a smoother finish looks better. So out comes what may well be the ultimate instrument of female torture.

If you've never used a Depilator let me explain it's workings. Those little gold blades revolve at speed and act as tiny tweezers, opening and closing as they turn. They literally yank the hair out by the root and yes, it's every bit as painful as it sounds!

In fact around the ankles and for the first few swipes, it's shiver down the spine and eye-wateringly painful! Then your legs seem to go numb, or your brain just decides to block the pain stimuli to stop you from fainting out cold.

But there's just no denying that for the ultimate smooth legs, then a Depilator is the way to go. Waxing is almost as painful, although over quicker, but it's just not quite as effective for me. So now I have another month to build up the courage to break out the Depilator again, the things us girls do for beauty!

And before anyone asks, no I have never had the guts to try it anywhere else but on my legs, just the thought makes me cringe. In fact the scorned wifes ultimate revenge, might just be an attack on male chest hair or the crown jewels, with one of these!

So what's your favoured form of hair epilation?

As a man I don´t need to torture myself so much. I just want to say that thing looks like a vicious little beast!

Torture was exactly what I thought when I tried it first, and now I use it all the time! Hooked on torture, huh?

OMG. My mom had one of those when I was a teenager and I swear I thought it was a torture device. OUCH! I tried it once and decided I'd rather be a hairy beast than use it again. Well, maybe not a hairy beast, but you know.
I have had laser hair removal done. The first place I went it was PAINFUL. Effective, but painful. I ended up moving before I finished the treatments and found a new place that had "painless" removal. It cost more (of course), but it didn't hurt. It got a bit warm at times, but no pain. FYI, laser hair removal takes many treatments and does not remove all the hair. Some hair is just stubborn and no matter how many times it's zapped will continue to grow. It does grow slower and finer, but you still have to shave every now and then. I shave about every 2-3 weeks. Between shaves I'm really smooth, so in the end it was worth it. I love not having to shave all the time and being smooth.

I have never used one of those things and after your description, I believe I'll stick to my razor. Unfortunately, my eye sight is not so good anymore so sometimes I don't even notice that I need to shave my legs which are more exposed in Hawaii.

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! Oh what can I say. I don't worry about it too much since I can't see it anymore. Hard to wear the glasses in the shower that they don't steam up keeping me from getting it right. LOL.

A razor's all I have the strength to do. I've tried waxing a couple of times and thought I'd die. Tried Nad's once and it was just as bad.

I do like, however, the razors with the lotion strips.

That does look really evil. One of the nice things about getting older is that less hair grows on your legs. There, I've given you something to look forward to. Bad eyesight helps too.

OMIGOODNESS! Ouch! I think I will stick with the razor, I'm hurting just thinking about it!

Don't use it to try to give yourself a Brazilian. Just sayin'. Not that I ever did that, of course not. Do I look stupid? (Don't answer that!)

Just to be clear, the ultimate instrument of torture is clearly the bagpipes.

But that does look like a mighty scary thing, I agree!

Think I'll stick to the razor too. Mind you with our summers I wear trousers most of the time so nobody sees my legs.

Well, when I first looked at it, I thought it looked like one of those contraptions that take the knobbly bits of fuzz off your sweaters....I was close to the truth wasn't I ?
I'll stick to the razor.

I just can't use mine anymore, I would rather wear pants. I know that's chicken of me but I'm not into the pain! You are my hero...brave and fearless!

It does look like torture! I just use the razors myself, hardly ever expose my legs unless there's no one about.

3 words for you Laser Hair Removal! It was the best descision I ever made! A bit painful (like a rubber band snapping you) but OOOOhhh sooooo worth it!

ouch, that looks evil. I'm the waxing queen and have no problem doing my eyebrows or lip, so I decided that since it didn't hurt my face, my legs would be fine and I'd have to do it less often. WRONG! It hurt soooo bad. One leg is nice and smooth... the other, looks like a bear's leg.

Well, I have very little hair on my legs so I use an electric shaver on them. On my armpits I use the same thing, I think I actually have the same brand. For my bikini line (where I do have a lot of hair for some reason) I wax.

Why, why, WHY?!?!?!wa

Bella - you are a very brave woman with that wax. I had that done one time and never again. If I got the wax on there, I'd never have the guts to rip it off! LOL

OH MY, that does sound quite painful! And that does truly look like a miniature torture machine.

I regret I just shave my legs, frequently, esp in the summertime!

So no worries, no need to overnight the Depilator to me for hubby's return, LOL. I will just do a slam-bang-up job of shaving tomorrow. :-)
