It was a close thing....

and some of you might still think we qualify, but I'm happy to report we are no longer 'rednecks'. Yep the Christmas lights around the house were finally taken down on May 16! Sadly I don't have photographic evidence for May, but I do from April 1st during the big snow!

Since I've been here I have heard people joked about for leaving their Christmas lights up year round. But what with the weather being all over the place on weekends and me not feeling great, we were heading that way ourselves! Who knows what the neighbours have been saying LOL?

The irony however, is that taking the lights down on a hot Okie day and not realising your shirt drops below your suncream, means I am now in actual fact a 'redneck'!

Lol...Sarah
The neck looks sore, best get some aloe vera on it, and yes, your right about what they think about leaving Christmas lights up until almost Summer....
Here in the South, we probably tend to do that a little more, but heck, they can serve as July 4th decorations :)

So now you truly are a redneck. And what's wrong with leaving the lights up? I see it here in AZ all the time.

Oh my! A "redneck Brit" *LOL*
I have met a lot of Brits in my travels, and I know a lot of good ole' rednecks. Those two words just don't go together, in my opinion! !
Sarah, you have a great sense of humor!

Being from Dagenham, I qualify as a Brit form of redneck anyway. This is further supported by the fact that I like lights up around the roofline of a house. Especially when you are having a BBQ or something.

What did you take them down for? Now you will have to put them up again in a few months

Yep, that's how they got the name -- workers of the land wearing a shirt to protect them from the sun, but still the neck was exposed. :) Suits you!

Ouch! That looks so sore. Sorry - your lights may be down - but I think you are still a redneck. At least until that sunburn heals.

We used to take lights down, then they wouldn't work the following year! And our deer do NOT like being in a box for 9 months. Plus, look what you got for your efforts!

I hope that doesn't hurt as much as it looks like it does!

Yikes! Aloe is great on sunburns. A lifeguard also mentioned wet teabags. Something about tanin in the tea soothing sunburns? I've tried it and it does seem to help in case you don't have aloe on you. I figure you do have tea bags?

We have a tree on the side of the house that has had lights on it for three years now. The tree is partially hidden...it's our little secret.

Just one word looking at your neck. "Ouch."

Think I would have left them up now. Not long to go!

Hope the soreness goes away soon. It's so painful.

Oh dear, Oh dear! Don't you know it's bad luck to leave your decorations up after the 12th night of Christmas? That's why I never put the darn things up in the first place. - Humbug! :-0

From the looks of that neck, you have officially crossed over... :)
