Brit' Word of the Day....

Today's BWOTD can cause alot of confusion for Americans in the UK and Brit's in the USA, as I have found out!

"Would you like a pack of crisps with your sandwich?"

'Crisps' = Chips

So in this case you will be given a pack of Pringles or the British equivalent to Lays, which are Walkers Crisps.

If what you actually wanted was Fries then you need to ask for Chips and unless you are in McDonalds or Burger King, they will be big fat fries and very different!

So when in Britain:

'Chips' = Fries

Confused yet?! So don't ask for chips in the UK unless you actually want fries, otherwise it's crisps!

Thanks to all of our favorite Britcoms, we already knew these terms! Some of the flavors of crisps over there are a bit "interesting" though, for my taste.

AJ was 3 years old on his first trip to England. Pizza didn't take like American pizza and all he would eat were plain ham and cheese sandwiches. Finally he agreed to fish and chips and was very upset the chips were fries not the chips, er crisps, he wanted!
