A few odds and sods about me...

Ok this is along the lines of those '100 things about me' posts. My problem is I can't just think of 100 things that are interesting about me and even if I could it would go on so long you'd all be asleep.

So I thought I would do the odd one of these every now and then instead, and maybe someday I'll link them altogether on the right side somewhere!

  • I suffer from Arachnophobia and always have

  • I don't drink pop/soda/fizzy drinks at all anymore

  • I have 2 cats (my babies) and a tankful of tropical fish

  • I have never had children out of choice and won't regret it

  • I am a lifelong Manchester United supporter (soccer)

  • I sing EXTREMELY badly

  • I wear contact lenses or glasses as I'm blind as a bat

  • I have always wanted to be Madonna but all we share is a big gap between our front teeth!

  • I have a huge passion and fascination for the Tudor & Elizabethan periods of English history

  • I hate my legs, they're bloody awful but hereditary!

  • My first husband was Turkish and we are still friends

  • I was a runner-up in Cosmopolitan Magazines 'Women of Tomorrow' when I was 22 and went to a big 'do' in London

  • I can curl my upper lip like Elvis

  • Donny Osmond was my first big crush and now he does my head in popping up all over my TV!

  • The hardest thing I ever had to do, was be the one to tell my Mum my Dad had remarried

  • I love playing Canasta

  • My fave alcoholic drink is Gin & Tonic (Bombay Sapphire)

  • I know all the words to the movie soundtrack of 'Grease'

  • I used to be a Human Resources Manager for a manufacturer

  • My biggest regret in life is that the last conversation I had with my Grandma was the biggest argument we ever had and about the only one, she died 5 days later

  • My fave song is 'I believe I can fly' by R Kelly and a bit of a life philosophy for me too

  • I have very blue eyes

  • I have had the same bestfriend for 30 yrs since I was 12 - Gill

  • My greatest sadness was the loss of my younger cousin to a brain tumor in his early twenties

  • Animal cruelty makes me cry always and gets me very angry

  • I drive a red Chevy Pickup and love it, it just fits my new life

Hello, Brit Gal

I've seen your comments on one or two blogs I read and thought I'd stop by and give you the once over. I've really enjoyed reading your posts. Especially the 'Brit word' bit. I'm a Brit too, living in Italy there are quite a lot of us here ( that's an understatement) but in the world of Bloggers it seems not so many. Nice to meet you.

Love the list. I may have try to do that sometime on my own blog.

We share at least one thing in common: item #1. I HATE spiders. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Nothing sends me into a panic like the sight of a spider. This (very) big man is reduced to a wimpering, paralyzed "little" boy in the presence of an arachnoid.

Thanks for sharing your list!

Hi Tuscan - thank you for stopping by to check me out, I will return the compliment.

Brad - DITTO, I get totally crazy at the sight of them. Luckily I have not seen a Tarantula YET!

I love that you drive a big red truck.

My husband always goes to Bedford, UK. Is that near where you lived? How did you end up in the south?

Glad you loved 27 Dresses!

Have a great weekend.

Down Home - that's just too funny, I worked for that company in Bedford for about 9yrs. So I was there everyday until I moved here! Why does your hubby go there?

I was moved with parents from north to south at age 2.5 yrs approx, but still have alot of family up north.

That was fun, Brit Gal! Nice to get to know you a little better.

I didn't think anyone else in the whole world liked to play canasta.

Sadly, I can't dink fizzy drinks anymore, either. sigh.

You're an arachnophobic, and you moved to Oklahoma, bug capital of the world! :-)

But, there again, maybe the bug problem is not as bad in the NW as the NE, it gets very humid here in summer.

Willow - Canasta is a bit of a family tradition for us, I have played since I was little. The pop was a choice for me, I believe one day Coca Cola et al are going to get blown out of the water due to all the chemicals they put in their drinks.

Jan - Tell me about it, I blogged about your supersize bugs a while back, but they say love conquers all! We shall see I guess ;-) Btw are you seeing double today..LOL!

I must have had a drop too much "medicine" last night. ;-)

So funny and a bit uncanny, as you and I have quite a few things in common:
- no kids/no desire for them
- madly pro-animal, and one of the truly few things that would lead me to do true harm to someone is if I saw them hurting an animal
- two cats whom I live for
- blind big-time
- love your British history
- can't sing a note.

Great post - it's great to get to know you a little better!

Gabrielle - As I can't link to you through a site I have to ask where you are. I have noticed I have 2 constant visitors from Valperaiso, Indiana and Tulsa - are you one of these? We do have alot in common!

Daryl - thank you for such a lovely comment, that's very sweet

Interesting post - in a former life I worked in HR, training and then OD (Organization Development, rather than me OD'ing). I got fed up with always taking the brunt for whatever was going wrong in companies. I also worked for some complete A**holes but if I start on about them I'll need therapy!

I finally get to visit! Boy, brag on blogger one time and then it really gets in a tizzy on ya!
I erased your extra comment by the way ;)

You are so cute with your truck! What's her name?☺

Canasta ladies - we need to make a table up in yahoo games and play online! The Hubster and I still do that now occasionally, as we did when we were so far apart.

Hey, I think we must be teh same aga. I've had my best freind since I was 9!

"I know all the words to the movie soundtrack of 'Grease'"
--I had to laugh at that. I think anyone who grew up in Britain around our age knows most of the songs. It was such a huge hit. have whole scrapbooks filled with Grease clippings and will never forget when I saw ONJ years later--massive crush--she seemed the most gorgeous human I've ever seen to that point.

The funny thing is I first saw Grease at about 11 in guess where? Yep, Oklahoma--Stillwater to be exact. My father was teaching at OSU and my sis and I came out to visit him! We loved going there. Ill never forget the cicadas! Incredible.

Mmmmm - I saw Grease at 13 in Chesham at the Odeon with Gill and it has left a lasting impact on my life. I felt the same way about JT, as you did about ONJ!

I am 42 in June...so you maybe a little younger?

"Look at meeee, I'm Sandra Deeee"

...you may continue...

Great list! It is a good way to get to know you better. Canasta is somewhat of a family tradition (if that is possible) for my family. I still find it hard to imagine a Brit girl driving a Chevy Silverado. The photo is super!

I'm a bit late coming to this, but I just wanted to tell you that I found it very interesting. Though I was rather sad to read you are a Man U fan.... I come from the Blue side of Manchester (by way of Everton; I had to convert when I got married).

I'm really enjoying your blog.
