Went to be fingerprinted but....

....came back with a new car! :-)

Well like everyone else around the world the gas prices have been killing us, especially with my Pickup getting 14mpg and the Hubsters getting 18mpg! So we decided it was time to take decisive action and go for economy with my car.

It's a 2006 Mazda 3 Sedan S Grand Touring, so fully loaded with extra's including a black leather interior, auto climate control, auto lights, electro-lumescent blue dials at night, 17" alloys, airbags everywhere, computer that tells you - mpg, gas left in miles, indoor and outdoor temps; and heated seats, very dark tinted windows all round, a 2.3 16v Manual (which I prefer) that really gives it some welly. One previous owner and it likes new inside and out, it even has the new smell still!

Plus it takes up approximately 2/3rds of the space in the garage my Pickup did and the Hubsters pickup is even bigger than mine. So with the 26-32mpg average this is just an all round winner and it's soooo pretty too :-)

I had a Mazda Miata (MX-5) in the UK and love Mazda - always reliable, quality build, fantastic drive and road handling, really well equipped and has the ZOOM-ZOOM thing going on! (First 3 piccies enlarge if you double-click on them)

It was actually a great day generally! On the way down I won a radio competition and a cool prize, then during the day we found 2 brand new pennies head up on the sidewalk (a great omen) and I also got the immigration stamp I needed in my passport; so all good until a year from now and by then I should have the 10yr green card.

Some days are just hard to beat! :-)

Okay....so now I need a name for our new baby?

A good day all around!

Love the car! You'll look so classy driving it. I'm no good at naming things, so no idea for a name.

Beautiful! Now, this is more like what I would expect a Brit gal to drive!

Oooh Sarah, I Love the car!! Good luck with her. She's a beauty for sure. Call her lucky, with finding 2 pennies heads up that day. LOL.

Ooooooh, I love new cars. I'm so frugal, I rarely have them. I keep playing with the idea of getting a less gas guzzling vehicle too.

What a great day! Smart move replacing the truck! You've had your American experience, but now you get to be more sensible - yet fun at the same time!

I love Mazda's too! My first car, back in '86, was an RX-7. And, since I was a new teen driver, I personalized my license plate to say, "My Maz". It was my fav car!! Those 3's are supposed to be terrific.

girl she is beautiful! sorry i missed your call and i didn't pick up your message until this morning, and ran straight in here to see if you had posted some pics and sure enough, you had! i LOVE LOVE LOVE the mazda3 and am very jealous! gorgeous color too and all the bells and whistles. congratulations to you on this beauty! what to name her? Maizy? But you need a perfect British girl's name that you don't hear in OK so much -- Fiona? Or how about Posh because she is all that and more ;) where'd you get her?

I'm too busy seething with jealousy to be happy for you.

Anyone need a 2000 Dodge 2500 that gets maybe 11 mpg? Leather, heated seats, bedliner and less than 60k miles.

Oooh thank you everyone, I am so thrilled with her and now I am off out to wash and polish her up for when we go out later :-)

The Hubster is getting her a silver tag plate holder as we think the red glittery one around the flag needs to go.

Douglas - OUCH! I feel your pain, my Pickups on sale Monday AM!

Pam - I knew you'd be busy at work, but just had to call someone!

Michelle - Lucky that's an excellent name for her in view of the 2 new pennies!

Linda & AA - you're both right more like me, time for a change and hey I can still drive the Hubsters even bigger Pickup

Snippety - we were the same, my Pickup was 14 yrs old but with a $380 gas bill monthly, this will actually save us!

Chellie - I think sometimes Mazda is dismissed, but if ever drive one or own one that all changes. They are so solid, the doors are heavy, they are high spec and they drive amazingly well.

Lynne - yes we could not have had a better day really

Pam - Bob Moore Pontiac, Buick on NW Expressway and the funnist thing! The salesman sold a car to our neighbour last weekend and we found that out talking to him. And you know what a small town we are in and how many dealerships there are in OKC! Small World!

Very wise of you to ditch the gas guzzler.

Loobyloo would be a good name, but I think you are too young to remember Andy Pandy on Watch With Mother. Lucy, maybe?

Glad things worked out well with the INS, I know how that one goes.

Janet - I used to watch Andy Pandy!LOL

Sarah - congrats on the car. Here's a funny - ITS MY CAR TOO!!!! I think its funny cause you just blogged about having a truck, my husband has one too that we are about to trade in. It drinks gas. But my Zoom Zoom hugs curves, saves gas and is so fun to drive. I hope you enjoy yours as much (or more) than I enjoy mine. I call mine "Bessie"

Unknown said...

Well how funny, what colour is your Bessie.

I am thinking I am going to call mine Lulu, as I loved the suggestions of Lucky and Loobyloo, so good combo'!

Nice car! Congratulations! But I'm a little hurt because you were so close to my home and we didn't even get a chance to visit!

By the way, what's with the confederate flag on the front of your car? ;-)

Wow!
Nice new wheels Sarah!
Wishing you many happy (& cheaper) miles driving "Madge".

Sarah, I'm cleaning the drool off my face as I write! You lucky gal. It's lovely. Mazda 3 is one of mine and Miles' all time favourite cars!

Whenever I rent a car, I request a Mazda 3. They are AWESOME! they drive like a dream, corner like they have rails and doesn't look bad either. :0

How about Jealousy for the new name!!?? LOL Love it! I fight wanting to drive a new car by remembering that I have $400 to do stuff other than pay for a new car with. LOL Most of the time that helps - but sometimes inside I am not buying that line.

Don't you just love the way these drive??? I think they're fantastic! I don't own one, but ended up with one as a rental one time when going on vacation and fell in love. Now every time I rent I request it and they always manage to come through for me. I need to just buy one already! lol
