Hey you Brit's reading this...

I hear it's been bucketing down over there now for a few days and last week was like winter all over again. Oh boy do I not miss the English weather ever!

Well you ought to be in Okieland my friends, here are our temps for the past 3 days:

Monday - 107 degrees
Tuesday - 98 degrees
Today - peaked at 102 degrees an hour ago
Tomorrow - predicted 98 degrees

I am sitting in my nice air-con' cooled house with all the curtains closed against the fierce sun and heat, using the lights! LOL

This is not the time for doing what most Brit's would do in this type of weather - lotioning up, lying out in it and turning into a lobster, trust me! Still nice though as we have low humidity and a breeze.

Ah, but is it as green and lush as it is here? And can you sit outside under a tree with a soft breeze blowing around you and the smell of the flowers wafting past? think I'll stick with the rain!!

You're going to hate me for this Amanda, but actually yes I can.

Only I get to swing in my hammock with a lovely breeze (it's always breezy in Oklahoma), if you check the blog last week you'll see I am surrounded by blooms. And we have an underground sprinkler system so our yard is very green and lush!

Sorry - but I just chuckled out loud and thought 'I sure can'!

It's very green in NE Oklahoma, in fact this area is known as "Green Country."

The countryside here reminds me very much of England, but the weather doesn't. Though unlike Sarah, I dislike the heat, and it also gets very humid in these parts, which just compounds the problem.

I know you were asking for comments from England, Sarah, but I just wanted to add my
twopeneth. :-)

Fine by me Jan, comments are open to all comers at all times.

Interesting on your humidity, but I guess that's being so near Grand Lake right?

Amanda - Jan & I are on exact opposite sides of Oklahoma but on about the same parallel - does that make sense!? LOL

ha, and i'm right in between sarah and janet and a little to the south, but it is a whole-different terrain here as well. sarah, i saw today where the panhandle is applying for assistance due to the drought. hope it isn't that bad where you are. john has never adjusted to the 100 degree days, but it is easy enough to stay inside, as you say! but still unseasonably warm, even for western OK! i think it IS more humid over Grand Lake way.

I don't think I'd mind the summer heat here in New England so much if it weren't so humid. On the other hand, the air is too dry for me in the winter - my skin gets very itchy. Today was nice - a gentle drizzle all day. More damp air than rain from about mid-morning onwards, and they kept the kids inside at recess!! I keep telling them if they did that in England the kids would never get to play outside. (OK, so I exaggerate!)

It's supposed to hit 90 here tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it. I really hate the heat...I want to go north!

Stay in...stay cool!

Well now OK is under a severe storm warning for tomorrow. It looks like we may just catch a few thunderstorms but the rest of the state is under a high threat for tornadoes!

OK, I don't get it. You live more north of me but it's hotter where you are? We've been in the low 90's. I'm so confused. I'm sorry it's been so hot. Sounds MISERABLE! Is it humid too? That's the worst...

It sounds as if you can have your cake and eat it Sarah!! It would be far too hot for me though. It's fascinating reading American blogs - I'm starting to get some idea of the distances reading about how different things are in different parts. I've only just discovered your blog, but it's added to my list. I look forward to reading more.

Eeew--too hot but I'd take the greenery. I thought it was very humid in OK though--maybe not where you are? Well, I already find it getting way toot hot here but I have to say i don't miss the freezing cold of England either.

I love that kind of weather you're having, Sukes...only thing is, WITH air con, as you have! We don't have air con, so as the summer heats up, I get cranky some days!!! LOL. Craig does miss England weather from time to time and mentions it....I think we all enjoy a nice rainy day on occasion, but he LOVES the rain...so he misses that. M.

I am up very close to the Panhandle and no humidity is not a huge issue here, due to lack of rain.

After we get some it gets humid and the locals all complain. But let me tell you it's not humidity like I've experienced in the holiday spots of Europe, where you literally drip with it. So for me it's still bearable and my mum has said the same actually.

Now over 100 is too hot for me too, but it's still an improvement on days of rain! LOL
