I was asked by a Brit', about whether we really do have alot of Pickups in Okieland, my friend Judy counted them up for me on a 105 mile journey yesterday.
We only counted the Pickups we passed, so no parked ones were counted in this highly scientific survey. So how many did we pass on our journey?
105 miles = 305 Pickup trucks!!
And before I left the UK I think I had only seen 2 in my life! If we had counted McD's car park and all the others parked along the way, we'd have easily made that double.
So yep I really am in the land of the Pickup here.

You'll find similar results counting Subarus in Colorado.
Mine is red...candy apple red with chrome fixin's ...and it is mine...Mac drives one too, but it's a rag, lol! Not girly at all...I love my truck so much I named her Giselle!

I just moved to Okieland, and though have always liked pickup trucks, I have never owned one. But, I have been looking at them thinking I might just do a trade in and buy one. :~)
Hey, it's a lifestyle choice. hahaha. But they are so useful!
The Plain States pretty much drive around in pick-ups because you can haul more - but they sure eat up gas! We have a lot here too! Growing up in the South - I only saw cars and rarely pick-ups - but I did live in the city.

I don't know how people afford to drive them, it's scary enough just filling up my car these days.

You had only seen 2 before you moved here? Wow, that is mind boggling to me. I really had no idea that the truck thing here was an anomoly. (Said as a person who has always, always had a truck in the family.)
Besides baseball and hamburgers I'm not sure there is anything much more American than a good ol' pickup truck! lol
