Let it SNOW!

No don't worry we didn't have some freaky kind of weather event in Okieland this weekend! That's just me out enjoying my favourite kind of weather - yep that would be snow, the more the better.

So what made me think of this on a tropical 100+ degree day - longing that's what! Don't get me wrong I like Summer and Fall especially, but nothing will delight me more than those first few flakes of snow gently falling to the ground. I probably should have moved further north - like Alaska, but that's not where life decided to lead me.

The Hubster is highly entertained everytime it snows, as I rapidly revert to a 5 year old with every inch that falls and settles. A couple of years ago we got 6 inches in a day and as you can see above, I was out there enjoying it!

Even more thrilling, after 6 hours of snow, the local TV station gave out the ok and recipe for 'snow' ice cream and I got to make and eat some. The days of really heavy snowfall seem to have gone around here, but I'm ever hopeful that one day we'll get 20+ inches.

Why do I love snow so much? A few reasons I can come up with include: it makes me feel childlike again, the total silence that you only get after a few inches of snow, the sound of snow falling gently around me, the beauty a covering of snow gives to everything, being warm inside and gazing out at it, or being outside playing in it.

Snow isn't the same in the UK. First of all where I lived you didn't get much and when you do it only occasionally sticks or accumulates. The beauty aspect is shortlived, as it rapidly turns into dirty slush with all the traffic. The Brit's also panic at the sight of even an inch and the whole country will grind to a halt! Over here anything under a foot doesn't cause any kind of problem, we are just better prepared.

So despite it being July and the height of summer, I am already counting down to winter hopefully. There's nothing more I love than getting up and having to reach for a pair of my snowboots, which also just happen to be my favourite footwear of choice!

It's quite a different story when you're driving in traffic in the metro areas. First sight of snowflakes and many drivers in the metro decide to suspend all sanity. Any accumulation of snow means instant gridlock. It's pretty aggravating and pathetic.

I love snow, too. Autumn is my favorite season, but I just love the tranquility, beauty and playfulness of snow.

If you seriously begin to yearn for "20+ inches" of the white entertainment, I have a house for sale in northwest Indiana. I can pretty much guarantee you will get that a time or two from fall to spring, and constant accumulation throughout the season.

Thanks for the psychic cooling, I need it round here at the mo. I am also looking forward to needing to wear a coat again, or even a cardi. :-)

I LOVE your snow boots! They are just way too fabulous. I wish we got lots of snow here so I could wear snazzy footwear like that. Awesome!

My favorite seasons are fall and winter. I could use some of that wonderful cold snow about now! :)

Oh,how I do love winter! And Edward is longing for cold weather, also. If we can just slog through August!

For a sec I felt like it was April again, when we actually WERE having weather like that...I like the snow, in moderation, and choices of foot wear are indeed fun. I wrote an entire ode to my Ugg boots this past winter.

I love the snow but you're quite right that it just isn't the same in the UK!

fun pic! and very wishful thinking on today's 100 degrees. anyway, i was just watching this show with your Ants and Dec on there. OMG, it is dreadful. I don't think they will be able to save the show and hopefully they will come back in something else. just couldn't watch it!

My best friend is a teacher in blighty and frequently gets the day off if there's so much as a half inch of the white stuff.

Wimps. One night in 2003, I remember 36 inches coming down. And that's nothing compared to what you get out in Cowboy country.
