The Aftermath

The building that burned down across the road from our home Friday night, (roll down for all the drama and piccies) was previously an Antique Shop when the hubster was a child.

But in recent times it has just been additional storage for the owner, and a bit of an eyesore to be honest.

So it's loss was not great for the owner as it was unoccupied, but the fire that was set there, could have caused much devastation to the homes in our street.

The Fire Chief has some leads on what started it, and all we can hope is they have enough evidence to prosecute.

In the meantime, this is the aftermath...

I find it bizarre considering the top photo where it's fully ablaze, that you can see a seemingly untouched area on the right front. Plus down the side there are areas that look unscorched!

Everyone agrees we had a lucky escape, 24 hours earlier in 40mph winds it could have been a whole different story.

Sarah, I am so glad that no one else's home was caught on fire. I hope they do have enough evidence to prosecute the person who did this. The photos were amazing that you took of the fire!

Reminds me of the story of the Yorkshire mill owner when someone said to him "sorry to hear about your fire". His response was "no, that's next week".

My grandad had an expression that I never understood when I was little but I laugh about it now. He would say "I think someone's been arsoning around!"

Was that the night of the big storm, or was that Thursday? Anyway, we had a lot of lightning that night, and my next door (600 to 800 feet away) neighbor's house burned down. They were moving, but some things were still in the garage. It is an eyesore now. Can you believe it? How odd that both happened in our neighborhoods? Never seen it before in my life.~~Dee

Dee it was Friday night and they are pretty sure it was set by some kids! What a shame about your neighbours home, despite them moving out.

Winifred - LOL!

Sherri - we had a similar incident a couple of months back and there was no prosecution then, even though we all know the minors that did it!

Troy - another LOL!

This is so sad! It was such a cool place. Not so cool any more! The arsonist probably took my sign before he torched the place ;)
