It's all GO in our home today!

Remember a couple of months ago we ripped up the old carpet in our dining room? Well today's the big day when the solid oak floor we found underneath will be refinished.

Last night the lady doing it for us came in with some helpers and sanded the floor. We spent an hour beforehand taping up the rest of the house, to keep the dust out. We are so pleased we did, as it was so fine it even coated all the walls.

So after she left we had to wipe down every surface in both rooms to get rid of all the dust. We were knackered by the time we got to bed! Today she returns to put the finish on and it will be all done by the morning. We are so excited to finally get it done.

And while that's all going on, we are also getting our porch resurfaced with an epoxy pea-shingle finish. Our old concrete porch had definitely seen better days and so we decided to make this investment at a recent Home Show.

They have been waiting for a couple of warm days and finally we got them. Today they will be back to fill in the rest of what you see with a contrasting finish. I can't wait to get home from work today and see it, as it will transform the entrance to our home.

Isn't this always the way, you wait a few weeks for work to be done, and then they all come together! Pictures of the finished work will be up tomorrow.

Sarah, can't wait to see your Dining Room floor all done! It will be wonderful. Yes, sanding a floor does leave grit all over everything. You will probably find more and more over the next few months-it seems to settle everywhere! The patio will look wonderful once it's all done too! Just in time for the holidays!! Enjoy!!

I think you should have hired her to do the dusting too! ;) That floor is going to look fabulous, and so is the porch. I never knew what the name was for that stuff.
