Presenting our *new* room!

We finally got our dining room/reading room/entrance finished, after the Hubster got the trim finished yesterday.

A few of you guessed right on what the far end was going to be. I am a prolific reader and love my books, so much so I shipped 200 with me when I moved here! I have always wanted to have them in bookcases and accessible, so now we have a comfy reading area, with a snore inducing reclining love-seat to read in.

We have both noticed how the room feels bigger now, probably because of the wooden floor and the large open area in front of the bookcases. When it was just a dining room, it was really just a through route in the house, but now it will be fully utilised.

It was well worth all the hard work, we love it.

Click on the piccie for a bigger view and to spot the spooky face staring out the back of one of the chairs!! I just spotted it when I loaded the piccie, nothing to do with either of us!

Sarah that room is gorgeous. The floor is amazing and I love those Tiffany lampshades.

Congratulations to you both, your hard work has really paid off. Like you say it's multi purpose so it will get well used.

How did you get that face?

OOh shiny floors, and dining chairs with Halloween backs!!! You'll now have to explain the US/UK versions of "love seat".

Just beautiful. Looks very inviting and I'm always a big fan of books, books, books everywhere. I have so many they are in stacks because I've over filled my bookshelves. Enjoy. (The face thingy is kind of creepy).

Love the room and I think those lightshades really suit it. That face on the chair is spooky! I'm intrigued by all those dark horizontal books on your bookcase.

Well, it certainly looks luverly :)
I love the wood floors, they have really made the room...
I see you like the David Winter or is it Lilliput Lane collections, they are a wonderful reminder of English nostalgia.
You get "full marks" for the room makeover, what's next ..lol

Wow, that really turned out beautifully! (It has quite the woman's touch to it without being overtly feminine. It's just a nice design.)

Thank you all for the compliments, everytime we walk it in it just looks lovely. I have already got through half a book sitting there!

The Tiffany light fixtures were my 40th birthday gift from my Dad. We are BIG Tiffany fans and these are 2 of 4 we have.

Troy - the dark bound books are the Hubsters full set of Louis Lamour westerns.

Brit in Tennessee - they are all David Winter, I collected them through my teens and twenties and even have a few signed ones. They are a wonderful reminder of home.
