Brit' Word of the Day

I used this at work today and just got three blank looks?!

"Oh I've got that sussed"

'Suss/Sussed' = figured/worked out

Actually I can't believe they haven't heard me use this before, considering I've been there six months now! I thought I used this word alot, but maybe not, anyway it's a common Brit' expression.

So did you know this one?

I knew what sussed meant and thought the term was used only in the UK until I heard Stephen Spielberg and a few other movie star types say sussed when being interviewed. I suppose they picked up the term while working abroad.

I remember the time I was "home" visiting, and the latest expression being used was "At the end of the day "....
I hadn't heard it before, but then mysteriously about six months later, it crept into the vocabulary here in the U.S.
Seems like trends start in the UK. and then find their way across the pond, within a short time.

Yes, but it is a word that people should be able to suss out based on how it is used! Good choice for BOTD!

Gosh! No. I've never heard it before. However, now I'll have to mention it to my Brit neighbor when we go back to our home in Illinois to visit next month.

I did know this one, but haven't heard it outside the UK. I think some people lack the common sense to suss what you mean when you use a phrase they aren't familiar with. I agree w/ pamokc that people should at least give it a go.

I have heard this term used all my life and I've never been to the UK.

Maybe it's a Virginia thing.
