My 12 loves of Christmas - 7/8

It just ain't Christmas for me without watching The Sound of Music. I am sure many of the other Brit's born in the 60's/70's can confirm it was shown on the BBC every year sometime over the holidays. So now it's just part of Christmas for me, thanks to the Beeb! The Hubster does not feel the same way and usually sleeps through it!

And whilst watching the movie you'll probably find me munching on a Minced Pie with a mug of Earl Grey Tea. I have found that not many of the Americans I know like these little traditional Christmas Pies. They are basically a sweet pastry, with a dried fruit in a rich sauce filling. The last time I checked, they sell about 40 million of these in England during November & December! It's a Brit' thing!

We always had the round of Christmas Specials in the States – Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, a Charlie Brown Christmas, The Wizard of Oz – that's what I think of when I think of Christmas. Sadly, I don't think they can show them any more because of the PC police.

Dom loves mince meat pies. In fact, I bought about 18 jars of the filling a year or so ago - usually $6 a jar - I got most of them for 50 cents and a bunch for free. We still have a few jars - guess it's time for another pie or two.

Mmmm! Warm mince pies with cream. I keep meaning to make my own mincemeat every year.

My other love is Pringle and beetroot sandwiches. No wonder we put pounds on at Christmas.

Sarah, BBC is showing Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Santa Claus 2, Shark's Tale, Wallace & Gromit and Bend it like Beckham on Christmas Day!

Give me the Sound of Music, Morecambe and Wise and The Two Ronnies Christmas Specials. Those were the days!

No mince pies for me, but John loves them. Sound of Music is usually an Easter movie around here. We can quote it verbatim!
