Amarillo Tea Party!

So a couple of days ago we made the 6 hour round trip to Amarillo, Texas. Apart from a few other bits and bobs we purchased, our most significant shopping was done in World Market.

I literally cleared their shelf of Twinings Earl Grey Decaff' Tea, all 10 boxes were mine! Plus I threw in another large box of PG Tips Decaff, to replenish the stocks back home.

So that now brings the total number of teabags under the Brit' Gal roof to approximately 500. I now feel free to enjoy my tea as needed with no fear of rationing. So if you have ever wondered "Just how much tea does your average Brit' drink in a day or year?", then I have a new handy 'tea-o-meter'(thanks Rob') top right to answer this intriguing question!

Anyone care to place their bets now on the final total?

OK I'm basing this on my own consumption / addiction of drinking tea.
Daily I confess to consume an average of six to eight cups. Multiplied by 365 days then that makes.......oh NO way !!

Hey it was great visitin' today! I drink the occasional tea but John has it daily. Funny your comment above, I swear it doubles on the way out also!

I'm a 3-4 cup of earl grey tea drinker. How interesting that my dad who was born and raised in Tottenham hated tea when he moved to Canada. He stopped drinking it and only had coffee in the morning. I never ever saw him drink one cup. (hmm)
Hope you have a Happy 2009.

Save some tea for the rest of us! Fortunately I drink high test, not decaf. I will be interested in seeing how high the meter goes!

Sarah, George introduced me to Earl Grey. YUM!!! Of course, like he said in his comment, we don't drink decaf. We drink at least one cup of regular tea per day and one cup of green tea. We don't drink nearly as much as you do--but we do like hot tea.
Hugs,
Betsy

I never tried tea with cream and sugar until I went to England. I haven't had it that way since just because we're so used to drinking green tea but now that I see your photo, I'm going to have some tomorrow morning. That should really surprise my mother.

Since moving the the UK, I drink at least one, sometimes two or three cups of tea a day. That is nothing compared to my wife, but in the US, I drank about three cups of tea a year.

what a very appealing tea photo! Living in the middle of nowhere in Botswana, I have sadly run out of Earl Grey tea (haven't ever seen a decaf version over here!) - my last bumper stock lasted about a year, and I am so looking forward to stocking up on it on a not too far off trip to the city! amount of tea consumed by me (not counting herbal) has drastically reduced since the Earl Grey drought... :)

A high school friend got me into tea. Her family was English, one generation removed from the UK but hanging on to traditions. I have to admit that as I've gotten older I prefer coffee, but I do still enjoy a cup of tea now and then:)

Just got my new shipment from Upton: Darjeeling Oolong, Risheehat Estate 1st Fl, and Assam GFOP tippy orthodox. Tea for the new year all around.

Ooo, I love tea, coffee too, but like a nice cup in the afternoon. The girl, B, drinks hers every morning. Her guy fixes it for her, every morning. Yes, they are newlyweds.

Pretty cup.

Did you check out that online site for more 'tips'?

The only time I drink tea is when I dine in a Chinese restaurant. Usually I drink iced coffee in the morning. Love it!

This Brit Girl never drinks tea. Can't stand the smell. Wish I could like it as I get sick of coffee and there's only so much wine I can drink in a day!

I'm watching that tea-o-meter and I'm impressed at your restraint - if I had a tea-o-meter it would be on "tilt". I buy a box of 200 bag Tetley's full strength every month. I like tea, hot or iced, which is something I've come to love since moving to Canada. Cheers!

WV = stashin (as in loads of tea!)

I have to have a cuppa first thing in the morning, then I might have one at lunch and another around 4pm to stop me eating the entire contents of my fridge. If you like Earl Grey, the Argo tea chain here do a fabulous Earl Grey Creme. it is so creamy, even if you drink it black. Highly recommended.

Tea o meter--love it. I am going to watch this! I am up to 3 today.

Ahhh, PG Tips Decaff--not ever had the decaff version. Is it really good? i don't really like Twining's decaf version--too weak but am always looking for other kinds.

Love that tea cup too. Very cheery. You know what would be fun is to see what ll us expats use for our standard tea cup/mug. Mine is a Boynsee's cartoon cat hanging on a swinging xmas bauble. All the colour is gone now but it makes me chuckle. It's a big white mug now, save for the drawing itself.

I enjoyed your post!I love tea and coffee both. I have seen PG Tips in my local grocery and will have to give it a try. My faves are English Breakfast tea and Rooibus tea. I like your tea photo...very nice tea cup and saucer!

Glad you were able to make the trip to purchase a bounty of tea! I drink 3 to 5 cups a day. Harney's has a nice decaf ceylon I started drinking in the evenings. The rest is the real thing. I take mine strait. GJ adds milk and AJ adds milk and sugar or just sugar. Funny thing, he didn't know you could add sugar to tea until his 3rd trip to England this spring when he celebrated his 10th birthday.
