Feeling right at home!

Well who knew I could feel so at home on a freezing 23 degree night in rural NW Okieland! Tonight the Hubster and I had a date night out to see the Liverpool Legends (click link to see them in action), a Beatles tribute act put together by George Harrison's sister.

They have a show in Branson, MO 9 months of the year and have won the Best Show/Group in Branson for the last 2 years (out of 140 shows!). They are amazingly good and the resemblances to the actual Beatles are uncanny.

They play and sing totally live, and have got the voices, mannerisms and sound of The Beatles absolutely spot-on. It was one heck of a great night out and I am a little hoarse from all the singing. The Hubster and I are both big Beatles fans and boy did we have fun! In fact they were the first thing we chatted about online, that fateful day we met in the Backgammon room.

Isn't it amazing though how Beatles lyrics just seem to be programmed into your brain. I hadn't heard or sang many of those songs in awhile, but there I was knowing every word and singing my heart out. Even 40 years later, it's still hard to beat the catchiness of a Beatles classic!

I think my fave slow track is 'Something' and fast track is 'Eight Days a Week' - what's your fave Beatles track?

Oh wow! I wish I was closer. I'd love to see it. I think we're ALL Beatles fans no matter what. I remember when I bought my first album..and my second and 3rd. I still have them. :-)

Wow - they really look like the originals! Loved Beatle songs especially one from the White Album called "I Will." There's a special history with that one.

You are right the Beatles songs are imprinted. I still love them. My 10 year old loves them also.

'Make Me Smile' album is my favorite. I saw Paul McCartney on the View, and even though he has aged, he is so the same, too.

Oh it was such fun, if it wasn't a 2 hr drive to see them at the next venue tonight, I know we'd go again! We are both a still little hoarse though this morning!

How fun! We saw a good tribute band some years ago, but haven't seen this one. I think they were in Chickasha recently. Yes those songs are the best but you couldn't possibly be a bigger Beatles fan than moi!

Pam we actually thought when we heard they were coming to OKC, shame we don't live closer so we could go with Pam & John. Gary says they are the best tribute band he has ever seen, they were obviously well financed as had all the original instruments, sets and wonderful costumes. You should have gone to Chickasha!

I wasn't a fan myself but I don't think the group will ever go out of fashion. Sounds like you had a wonderful night.

I love "In My Life", and then read a really interesting snippet about how it was written on Steamed Spnge's blog I think. The "harpsichord" piece in the middle is actually a piano speeded up. The musical interlude was apparently so tricky to play at the real speed that they had to do that. Who knew?

So did you come to my neck of the woods in Branson or were they closer to you?
Just saw you at sits and thought I'd stop in and say hi.
I've really enjoyed lookin' around your blog.

I'm with expatmum on this, my favorite is "In My Life," although I love them all.

They did appear at one of the casinos around here last year, but by the time we found out about it, the concert was sold out. Maybe next time.

I can remember going to the cinema as a kid to see, Hard Day's Night, and the girls in the audience were screaming all the way through the film

When I saw the picture I thought they WERE the Beatles. I don't know if I could name a favorite -- there are just so many great songs.

They played In My Life and it was wonderful. If they ever get close to you, like they did to us, then go see them.

That looks just like the Beatles bet it was a great night. Glad people still love their stuff. Just great pop music.

Sarah it's so hard to choose a couple. I particularly like their early songs which were so simple with matching simple arrangements and had such lovely lyrics.

I saw The Beatles when they toured here in 1963 with Roy Orbison. It was a great concert because it was in a small theatre. My favourite was George and I tended to like his songs too but he didn't often get a look in sadly. Don't bother me and Something are 2 of my favourites. I loved it when George joined up with Roy Orbison and some other famous people and they formed the Travelling Wilburys. Their music was great.

WOW Winifred, you actually saw The Beatles in concert - you are sooooo lucky! George was wonderful, years ago Paul was my fave, but as I have matured I have leaned towards George more.

I'm so old Sarah!

George was gorgeous, he seemed the quieter one, a bit shy when you saw him on TV.

Groovy! What a great date. I thought I was in a time warp. Never got to see them in concert.

Lucky you, Sarah !
I was / is a Beatles fan also, George Harrison used to own a pub in my hometown, and it was not uncommon for him to buy everyone a "round on the house", if he just stopped by.
My favorite is also " In my life", isn't that a coincidence, that's the song of choice for most of the Brit's here, leaving comments.
I'd love to see your lads...

OH gosh, as such a huge Beatles fan It's way hard thinking of which track. I but now suddely can't recall name of the one with "10,00 holes in Balckburn, Lancashire. I love all the Rubber sould and Revolver album songs in particular. I bet they were chuffed if you told them the accents were spot on. Did you? Waht fun night.

MMmm - I did indeed tell them. A Day in the Life is the title you're after and they played that too.

There are so many great Beatle tracks but at a live performance to get you wanting to get up and boogie I think "I Saw Her Standing There" takes some beating.

Sorry I'm a little tardy getting to this posting - I can't keep up with you, you post so often!

You're correct. The Liverpool Legends are awesome. We are very proud that they make Branson, Missouri their home base. Their show is very very popular and they are really wonderful people.
