Needing to trim down?

I have found a great site online that will help you lose weight by tracking your foods and is free to use. My Fitness Pal reminds me alot of the Weightwatchers Online site, the main difference being there is no charge to use it and it works with all diets.

You sign up, answer a few simple questions about your current height/weight, lifestyle and exercise routine. It will then work out how may calories a day you should consume to lose weight. It also gives you the option to choose how much weight per week you hope to lose, within sensible ranges.

Then you will have a daily food diary available to fill in and keep track of what you're consuming in calories. I also love that you can set the tracker to also show how many carbs, fats, proteins, sugars etc you are eating daily. This is why it really works with any diet, whether it's Atkins, South Beach, Low Fat or just your own plan.

There's a huge database of food and drinks available both in the USA and UK. So you can usually find what you plan to eat fast and just add it to your tracker, but you can also add your own foods if you can't find something.

It also allows you to track exercise and gives advice on how much to do to burn more calories. Finally there are community message boards, where ideas and tips can be exchanged.

Not much is 'free' these days and so I thought I would share this great site. With my thyroid now slowing, I need to start cutting back and trimming myself down, I really expect this to be a big help.

Sarah, there is a similar one called Sparks People. The name is deceiving but it's pretty good too.

I've seen both those sites and liked the fitness one better. Signed up and promptly forgot to log in again. My life is not my own these days!!!! Am ready for things to settle down. How are the meds?

Thanks. But that would actually mean using one.

This is fantastic. I'm starting a diet on April 1st. Tomorrow. Cutting out take-away food and wine. Adding exercise and a healthier diet.

This site is really fantastic and will be a great help. Thanks for posting the info on it!

Blessings.

I'll have to give that a look. My 'diet' fails on a daily basis at the moment. I even almost signed up for acaiburn and colon cleanse the other day - before I realised what I was doing and stopped! What i really need to do is just 'eat less'!!

So glad you shared this info. I just found out that my cholesterol levels are high. I have been put on a med for it and must increase my exercise and improve my diet (hubby laughed at that one, since we already fare pretty well in that area - but my ice cream frequency will have to drop). I'll check out both sites mentioned.
