Starting to build rapidly

Well you know you're in the place to be, when the storm spotters roll into your town!! Or not if you happen to live here and have a nice home you'd like to keep like that.

This was the view from my front yard a few minutes ago, it's looking pretty ominous right now and we have just been told tennis ball size hail and 75mph winds could hit us. We are under a severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch, but no tornado spotted out here yet today. They expect it to continue building all afternoon in this area.

In the meantime, I have almost finished the laundry, so at least we'll have clean sheets if all hell breaks loose!! Next up is some house cleaning, so anything that gets blown around is at least clean, I'm my mothers daughter.

But right now I'm just off to check our storm cellar and stick some essentials down there. I'm a planner, so if I'm prepared I can cope relatively calmly. If I'm not ready, then we're talking ranting headless chicken mode and that's not pretty!!

Sarah, I'm also in 'Tornado Alley' I love watching the storms roll in! It's good times!

I remember sitting out on the front stoop as a kid, watching the sky grow green, my folks would pull me inside ONLY when the sirens went off!

Oh dear, I do hope it wasn't too bad. I think I'd be a bit suspicious of a place if i knew it had a storm cellar!

Take care, CJ xx

Oh this sounds real scary, but as you say, being prepared makes it easier. Am thinking positive thoughts that it all blows over soon.

Keep your eyes and ears open. It must be somewhat comforting having a cellar to go to.

Oh be careful!! We're supposed to get the tail end of it here in Dallas. No basements here, darn it!!

Take care - Em

Hope you stay safe. It's good to be prepared at times like this.

Yep it is that green sky and blue stop lights (no wait, blue go lights) that tell you it is time to head to the cellar. Hope you don't get any hangy-downie swirlie things.

Watch for the green horizon!

(That's what we were told when we moved to Minnesota.)

Well we may have thunderstorms overnight but the severe threat seems to have lessened. We remain under a tornado watch until 3am though.
