Brit' Word of the Day

I'm back, finally getting my blogging mojo back!

So todays BWOTD is highly appropriate for these times!

"Apparently there are alot less people using the never never"

'The never never' = credit

I have heard this phrase used ever since I can remember.

Goodness, I've never heard that one. So, can one buy something on never never? Is that how it works?

How unusual! I've picked up a lot of British slang from the movies and TV but I've never heard that one. So, does this mean that "Never Never Land" is a place where everyone buys everything on credit?

That one is completely new to me. Does it have anything to do with never never land? Too bad that we never never have to pay those bills.

Credit? Really. Cool.

Yup, it IS a good phrase. Says it all. And for previous commenters, for some reason you have to say THE never never. You buy something on the never never.

Good news about your brother.

Hmm, never heard of this. And I'm not much for using the never never.

You are right again. This term has suddenly come back in use here. When we were kids you heard this all the time that and "on the knock." You remind me of word and phrases I have long since forgotten.

You know what, you would cringe at my "London-ness" if you heard me, but I use a lot of your BWOTDs naturally in my speech and I know I need to stop doing it. I either completely mislead people or I completely confuse them. Never Never is one of those phrases that seems to do both. Thanks for reminding me! :)

I never heard of this one either but I guess that's the point of your Brit word of the day....like it and it makes sense to me, so hopefully I'll remember it!

What about 'on tick'? That's a good one too.
