British? No explanation needed!

If you're not...well this full name is a very common slang term we use to describe the male appendage!!

Needless to say I had a darn good laugh when I saw this locally, props to the Hubster who spotted it first and was in 'the know'!

Yes! I first saw this name in D.H. Lawrence's book, "Lady Chatterly's Lover." John Thomas -- that brought a chuckle.

To those who asked wher did this name come from, I really don't know. But you don't name your son John, is your surname is Thomas. Funnily we have a John Thomas here in town!

What I do know is it's a very old English term and as Gigi mentioned, it appears in 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'.

Ha ha ha.

We have a car dealer here called Rusty Eck. That always makes me laugh. Sounds like Flipping 'Eck. And why would you choose the name Rusty, for a car dealer business?

Heehee Jo I'm glad you finally made it *snigger*.

I have removed a few links etc the past two days to try and help the site load. I think the My Library link needs to go too, I just think all these things slow it down.

Now my Uncle's name is John Thomas, but the excuse there is that Mam's family are all Welsh speaking, so I guess the English slang didn't feature much in Wales 70 years ago!

When I was a kid and used to go to watch the football every saturday with the family, the team we watched had a "star" striker called John Thomas. I kid you not. He was a hero around our way.

The mind boggles xx

John Thomas is my father's name - first and middle. I was a teen when I discovered the Brit slang meaning. It still amuses me.
