One week down...

Well tomorrow we start the second week of our school year and the first has been tiring but fun too.

I had completely forgotten what a challenge it is getting 36 new Kindergartners used to going through the lunch line. Getting them to pick up their silverware, put their milk on the tray, take the tray, balance it and then head in the right direction...it's a challenge for all involved at first!

The other dominating part of my week has been the never ending stream of first aid casualties! I have already applied 15 bandaids in 5 days and my first was just under an hour after school started. As I said to my boss today "here comes another bleeder"!! My biggest challenge so far, getting a bandaid small enough to stay on a First grader little toe today!

We have also continued to gain new students, which is just great. I think we are all enjoying being back, we have great comraderie amongst the staff and all enjoy our students. It's still my perfect job and I'm proud to be in such a great school district :-)

That job with training the kindergartners to go through the cafeteria line sounds like herding cats.
It sounds like you have a great place to work.

Yogi beat me to it with the herding cats comment!

We had most of our incoming kindergartners have a special lunch at school back in June. Only the new kids in the lunchroom - about 18 of them with 5 staff and 20 or so parents. It was still like herding cats! (And the chances that any of them will remember what they're supposed to do when school starts in 2 weeks? Zero!)
