Skywatch - Big ol' storm!

'Backside of possibly tornadic storm'

This was taken at sunset last night, 1/2 a mile up the road from home. We were under a tornado watch, and this was the backside of a huge storm heading East to scare others! A spectacular sight but impossible to capture the full scale, even with my 10-22mm wide angle lense. We could also clearly observe the rotation within the storm, in addition to some wicked lightening.

I submitted this to our KOCO channel 5 TV station and apparently it was featured during their morning news show, I'm hoping it may appear tonight so I get to see it. UPDATE: Yay it was on again!

What an awesome picture. Just the thought of a tornado sends shivers down my spine. I've been in a few hurricanes but tornados really scare me!
Keep safe.

OMG! Wow & Wow! This is most amazing. I can feel the power building and energy from that potential storm somewhere. Excellent capture. Think about creating your own panoramas to get even more vast space covered.

A truly awesome (in the real sense) photograph that conveys the magnitude and power of the weather systems that visit your part of the world.

As seen on TV, love it.

Gorge.Ous. Love love this photo as you know! I might have seen it on Rick Mitchell if we watched the news, but I'm much happier now that I've quit watching TV news. ESpecially local tv news. Mybad. Anyway, yay for skinned knees and tornadoes that do not actually develop! I call that a "Ghostbusters" sky based on that scene toward the end of Ghostbusters where the whole sky is boiling and green and rotating.

Amazing photo! I live in Arkansas and used to think that we had bad storms. Then we lived in OK for a couple of years and I realized that I "didn't know nuthin'" about storms.
