Todays BWOTD brings back childhood memories:"She dropped a clanger"Clanger = a blunder or faux pas. This is widely used throughout the UK and all Brits would know what it means. But the childhood memory goes back to a very popular childrens show named 'The Clangers'. Watching it now, I have to wonder if the person who came up with it had been smoking some waccy-baccy!! The real action starts at about 1min 30secs, remember a whole generation was influenced by this show! The show has nothing to do with the 'blunder' meaning.
That takes me back! I loved The Clangers as a child. Do you remember the live action one about the princess (?) and a bear in a cave? It might have been The Singing Ringing Tree. I think it was dubbed from German.
It;s amazing how many expressions and words there are to report on, isn't it? I keep thinking you are bound to run dry soon but you keep coming up with more. I don;t use a lot of them and have forgotten the ones I did use overall.

:))
I enjoy you BWOTD.Thanks for posting them.
Sunny :)
That was a lot of fun. However, why would you call a faux pas a clanger because they build rockets really fast and don't make many blunders?
I am not sure how, but I am going to try and work this into a convo with a Brit I work with ...

I enjoyed your blog.
I had a clangers DVD last Christmas for a laugh. I agree about the baccy. Now you have another word to post about by the looks of the first comment.
