Monday's Elementary D-rama!

An escaped cute pet Ferret, running amok on the Kindergarten playground during morning recess!

Yep, I thought I had just about seen it all over the past year as far as varmints go at school. But no, it seems I can still be surprised!

One of the Kindergarten teachers bursts into my office holding said Ferret and a highly over-excited Kindergartner away from it. She had found it and walked up with it in her jacket saying "look I found a pet"!

Teacher removes it from Kindergartner and carries it to my office. But not before it's scared another teacher half to death trying to enter her classroom and getting trapped halfway in the door! She thought it was a Weasel and the other teacher thought at first it might be a Skunk LOL!

Later she advises me she screamed all the way from the playground to the office, as she tried to overcome her terror in the interest of her students LOL! They arrive with me and I start to call the Police, as she tells me it won't leave and is obviously a pet that is very tame. I mean, who else do you call for an escaped over friendly Ferret in a school?!

But then the Kindergartner finally tells us it's the pet of a student family who live across the road.It is used to little kids, so must have heard them all on recess and just headed over to join in the fun. So brave teacher hangs onto it whilst I call mom, who it turns out is stuck in town with a broken down car! So we pull the 3rd grade owner from class and he takes it back home, with strict instructions to be very sure the cage is locked. I have to say though, it was an extremely friendly and tame Ferret.

And I thought the only excitement on the horizon was the impending tornado drill!

I'm always surprised to find people afraid of ferrets. We had seven during our time in Chicago and they are the sweetest, often laziest, little animals. I hope everyone is a little more at ease now with ferrets.

Hahahahaha! I as just thinking yesterday that I hadn't heard any Sarah School Updates in a while! Everyone was panicking and not listening to the kid, who had all the proper scoop on the situation! I've never been around ferrets, but I understand that they are very cat-like and can use a litter box!

It's so cute! I would have wanted to take it home.
Had an albino ferret when I was an animal keeper in Bakersfield and it was very affectionate. Yet not the thing you need in school.

Most pet ferrets are tame and friendly .. they do have a strong musky odor that is not as bad as a skunks but can be very cloying .. you know there's a book in all your adventures

For a minute there I thought you were going to have to take it home with you - your lot would NOT have been impressed, no matter how friendly.

I must say, that cute ferret makes up for the yukky spider in your previous post.

What a cute little guy. My oldest had two of them for pets and they were such fun and companionship for her. They also loved to play with our dog and cats.
