Double Brass Monkeys!

8F (-13C) air temperature, with a -5F (-20.5C) wind chill as I arrived at work this morning!!

Despite fur lined snow boots, thick socks, thermal long-johns, jeans, vest, thermal vest, double-layered top, thermal full length coat with hood up and leather lined gloves - I was still chilled right through walking 200ft from the car to the office! Now I know why I love my heated car seats so much.

Unbelievably there is no frost or ice, it's just BLOODY FREEZING, to the point of ridiculousness if you're a Brit! Needless to say I won't be leaving my office today. The USA really doesn't do anything by halves!

Well, at least your buildings are HEATED. When temperature drops to 55 degrees in Hawaii, we freeze indoors because it's not heated!

Well I hope that doesn't happen too often Gigi, I assume you can use electric heaters right?

I thought you said it was going to be cold.

You should go geocaching at lunch.

Oh hecky thump! That's cold. We must be real wimps here. I hardly ever wear boots and I haven't had my gloves out yet this winter!
It was about 9 centigrade and glorious sunshine, in fact the midgies were out in the back garden. Weird!

I know you're a Robbie fan. He gave a live concert on Monday morning on Radio 2. Not sure if you can access this but it's available on iPlayer on the BBC Radio 2 website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00p6c60#synopsis

Have to remind yourself it doesn't last forever. Well, unless we're due for another ice age. ;-)
Stay warm.

I'm on strict orders not to mention the temps here but I just can't imagine yours being 78F degrees less than we have here !

Heading to MI on Monday for a week so I'm enjoying things while I can. Doubt the rental car will have heated seats though.

Mulled wine, darling, that'll do the trick (and pulling the blanket over your head and going back to sleep, of course)!

Mulled wine. I like that idea. But I have to say: You make me nostalgic for the north. We got down to 30 something the other night and everyone cried.

Bella - roll to the very end of my right hand column to make it snow!

Oh gosh! I'm sorry I complained about 65 degrees yesterday. Actually, I'll bet it was colder and I was in shorts. My daughter tells me it's a snow globe over in Chicago and the temps (with wind chill) is -20 degrees right now. I do remember what that felt like. I do, I do.

Sarah, electric heaters would not heat the entire house, especially if we move around from room to room. Nice thought, though.
