I have a sparkly little secret!

I am a Magpie of the first order, if it sparkles, shines or blings, then I will probably covet it! So it's high time I 'come out' of my extra large jewelry closet. I really ought to be the founder member of JAA, aka Jewelry Addicts Anonymous!

It's not all my fault, family & friends know all about this addiction and feed it gratuitously. After all they know they're on a safe bet if they give me some bling.

I rarely throw any away, after all everything eventually comes back into fashion. So what I have has been collected over 30yrs, including some inherited pieces from family. When I moved here I finally bought one of those 4ft jewelry wardrobes to house it all, as before it was a mess. It's still a little untidy, but at least it's all in the same place.

I would feel bad, but one of the great weaknesses of many women in NW Okieland appears to be bling, so I fit right in. We often joke that we should have a jewelry pool at work and we'd have endless choices between us!

I am not a jewelry snob, my yellow gold I no longer wear regularly, so I keep it in the safe. Most of what I wear daily is costume/fashion, but with a few good pieces mixed in. I love turquoise as you can see, and I'm now living in the right area for it. I also love bracelets and rings, all of which I wear daily.

Now I know I'm not alone in this particular, closet, so anyone else want to admit they might need JAA?!

Not me, but I think my son maybe a magpie in training. If it sparkles, he collects it! I have found many a sparkly bead in the washing machine that he has collected from school!

I'm definately a canidate for JAA. My motto: a woman can never have too much jewelry. And being I make jewelry, I'm my own best customer. So I add all the beads to my hording as well.

I used to love my fun, colorful jewelry when I was teaching. The kids used to enjoy it especially. However, now that I'm retired, I'm too lazy to use it. I'm not even wearing my wedding ring. Hmmm... I'd better go find it. Sheesh!

I really LOVED looking at your jewelry though. I do love sparkly stuff!

Oh I love the term JAA - so true. I seem to have an addiction for pretty and yet useless things. Great at the time not so great when i have worn them once and then lost one.

Nope, no JAA for me - My name is Rob and I love pens!

Rob! Are you my twin? I mean I like jewelry, but wear the same thing every day, but pens, oh my, pens are lovely. The store gets a new color of the same pen I already have in every other color and I have to have it.

They say confession of the sole is good for you.......so here goes. I also have a thing for turquoise and silver - the older the better. We actually have an old restored wood dental cabinet that houses my collection of rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings! Works wonderfully!

Kate - I hear ya on the losing one and it's infuriating!

Bella & Rob - I can see the attraction and could easily be myself.

VC that sounds like an excellent and original way to store it all.

I do like the JAA terminology!! I do quite like jewellery although I am a bit fussy, and my best items are old things given to me by my mum, and Great Aunts etc. I tend to lose all my favourites, which generally turn up again - the latest lot after a whole year!

I am indeed a magpie and you were gracious enough to add to my bling collection ... I have two silver/white gold bracelets I wear every day no matter what else I wear .. I have no problem mixing yellow gold with white gold or silver . good with faux ... but there is one rule I learned that works ... after you are all done accessorizing.. remove one piece .. trust me .. this is a good thing and a way to keep us magpies from looking like walking Christmas trees!

Join me up. I'm a big jewelry lover. Now that I'm retired I don't have a good excuse to bling up daily, but once in a while.....

Glad to know I'm not alone.

Mahalo for the tea and cookies prize, Sarah! I received them in today's mail and posted a blog entry about it. Wonderful prize!

You should be receiving a care package from Hawaii next week.

Aloha!

As for jewelry, I gave most of them to my 2 daughters after I retired. I kept a few items like my pearl necklace, jade bracelet, and some earrings. Love to wear them to the opera and to restaurants.

Kindred spirits you and me... my other half is always telling me I'm a magpie... if it sparkles I have to have it. Lights, ornaments, jewellery - I'm not fussy!
