Laughed so hard, I put a rib out!

The Hubster & I went to see this excellent film today and HIGHLY recommend it for all. Well unless you still harbour any feelings for an ex spouse anyway!

I had a feeling Alec & Meryl would spark off each other and the chemistry did not disappoint. The writer & producer is Nancy Meyer, of The Holiday (Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz & Jack Black) and she is without doubt the absolute best at comedy films with a sensitive soul.

The locations are lush, very much the rosy side of life, but lovely to escape into for a couple of hours. Steve Martin is surprisingly not the comedy king of this film, he plays a more sensitive and likeable 'other' guy. Alec Baldwin is side splittingly funny, he has a little of the bad boy thing going on and was masterful as the ex. Meryl just seems to get lovelier with age and she is definitely having a great resurgence. I think she could star in anything and make it great. She's up there with Denzel now for me, if she's in it I know it'll be good. The other star performance is from John Krasinski (The Office), who has some of the funniest looks and lines as the soon to be son-in-law.

This is just good clean fun, no bad language but some very funny partial nudity, and a contemporary storyline that will feel familiar to many of us. There were more than a few scenes where I was quite literally rocking in my seat crying with laughter, as was the Hubster.

But I am certain the putting out of my rib happened during the 'smot poking' scenes, which were some of the funniest I have seen on film in years.

Just do not miss this movie!

Oh yeah, Sweetie and I loved this movie also. It might become a classic.

It was a fun film, one of ToonMan's pals gave us a screener copy to watch a month or so ago. IT was, for me, a bit too much like the Diane Keaton/Jack Nicholson film Nancy Meyers did 2 yrs. ago but still a fun film.

I am not sure Meryl is in a resurgence since I don't think she's ever done anything that wasn't wonderful ... even the dreadful Mama Mia was enjoyable when she was on screen.

But if you really want to see fun so see Julia and Julie... Meryl knocks that one out of the park too

I saw this one last week and almost peed a couple times too. :)

"OMG, I thought he'd never leave!"

Meryl never disappoints, Alec (who I always thought was a tad creepy old man-ish, even when he was young) is SUPER and admittedly kinda sexy, and John Krasinski is fantastic. I've never watched The Office, but I also just saw "Away We Go," and he's really great.

And Daryl, oh nooooooo, Mamma Mia is not dreadful. I'm so sorry you feel that way!

I love Meryl Streep, too. I just saw her in Julia & Julie or was it the other way around. I could use a nice laugh. Thanks for the movie review!
