Kitchen Renovation - Part 2

Yes I am still here, just very busy times, but I promise to be a better blogger!

One of these things keeping me busy has been finishing our kitchen renovation.

The countertops we paid someone else to install, the Hubster installed the new Corian sink and I decided to take on desiging and tiling the backsplash myself.

This is the finished result and I had a ball doing it, I just really enjoyed my first attempt at tiling. At some point I will now take on tiling our en-suite bathroom too!

It all went smoothly, especially once I realised 2 mosaic tiles perfectly filled the awkward gap all around the window. This could have been a tile cutting nightmare, but it ended up as an easily achieved focal point.

We went for a mix of porcelain and glass mosaic as the highlight, I found tiles that really complimented the new countertop well.

Above the cooker I came up with a unique design of our own, utilising more of the pretty glass mosaic tiles. Lots of cutting and nipping involved but it turned out great.

Our kitchen is complete finally, we are really pleased with it and thanks to the Hubster for his valuable grouting and clean-up help.

If you've never tried tiling because it seems hard, do what I did. Watch helpful You Tube 'how to' videos, buy a good tile cutter, lay out your design before you start and then just take your time. I now look at my beautiful kitchen and get even more satisfaction knowing I did it myself and saved us a fortune in labour!

Wow, you have been busy. Wondered what was happening. The tile job looks superb. I like your design and textural quality. That must have been a lot of work. Yet very gratifying. So now that the kitchen is done, when is the party? Or is there another room next? Hope you're having a good school year. Miss ya'

I have in fact, fancied tiling, but with about 5 unfinished projects in the house, I would be silly to start another one.
Oh, and you're mentioned in my current post BTW.

I loved seeing all your remodeling photos, Sarah. You did a great job! You are very adventurous. We tiled our kitchen also but stuck to plain white tiles.
