Quite the day for birdspotting!

This stunning Red Cardinal dropped by our garden late afternoon and proceeded to try to keep his balance on this wildly swaying cable in 40mph wind gusts. He eventually lost the battle and was blown away on the breeze, but not before I managed to sneak this shot.

Wow that is gorgeous! I used to be an avid birdwatcher in Washington, mostly in college. I probably would have cried if I saw this little bird in person during that time!

I have seen these birds when in the States. They are so stunning and so different to anything we have which makes them so much more exceptional.

The pink tree is a 40 year old Crab Apple.

Great shot! We get a lot of cardinals here and I love to photograph them. Rarely do I see a male that vivid though, great shot!

Thank you for the compliments, he was balancing there for about 8 minutes in gale force winds. I had to take about 9 shots to get this good one, none of the others were as good.

He was a really chunky, healthy, vivid little bird :-)

I hope for a Blue Jay next!

Gorgeous! I miss cardinals, we don't have them here in Colorado. I hope they are out when we visit my dad in Ottawa KS this summer. I love their song.

Vickie - ok you have seriously impressed me by knowing individual bird songs!

Cardinal bird sounds are quite distinctive listen out for what sounds like, that's sweet, thats's sweet. Or sometimes they make a sound like, priddy, priddy, priddy.

Well, that's what it sounds like to me.

Nice to find another Brit in Oklahoma, even if I don't share your love of handbags. :-)
