What a fun, fantastic idea....

London and New York City have been connected by a huge telescope! Now you can wave and signal to Americans on the Brooklyn Bridge from the bank of the River Thames in London.

Read all about it HERE

This is definitely something I will be doing the next time I am home

It seems a little odd... and fantastical... but might still be fun...

that's so cool!! I love the idea, and that a Victorian-age inventor came up with it so long ago.

Anything connecting the world a little more is super in my book! I love some of the things people have done...like a message held up from NY saying, "Send tea." lol

Too fun! What a fabulous idea. Yes, you must do this when you go home to London.

This is so cool! I'm disappointed that I left NYC the day before this was open to the public.

Sadly, according to a London Times press release (located in the press section of the telescope website) the telescope will only be open until June 15th.

I will be visiting this thingyummywhatsit in London later this week - I'll let you know how it went.

Funny. I had actually seen this. I was all in awe of it and the idea of seeing it from either end until some colleague ruined it with telling me it was no different than video conferencing--it's all just fibre optics after all! Oh well, I loved the way the artist promoted it and the idea of the scopes coming up out of the ground. If I ever make it to NY one these days I will check it out anyway!
