2 weeks in....

Well I have now completed 2 weeks back in full-time employment and I have really been enjoying it.

As the kids are currently on vacation, I am spending my time preparing for the new school year, clearing out, organising and learning the job of a school secretary. I am lucky in as much as the school environment is really nice and the teaching staff have been really welcoming and helpful. I am so pleased I have this 2 month period to get ready and learn before school is back in.

I am also really enjoying working with the new Principal who seems to believe in being organised and efficient as much as I do. I am really hopeful we are going to make a happy and content working team and I am finding her very easy to support and work alongside.

The thing I have noticed more than anything about returning to a role like this, is how little I was utilising my brain in everyday life. I feel like someone flicked a switch and my brain is once again fully engaged, but I am mentally tired by the end of the day. I have no doubt this will change as the steep learning curve levels out.

So far so good, I am enjoying work, finding it stimulating and very happy with my new workplace and colleagues.

It's a nice luxury to be able to ease into a job like that! You really did land on your feet there!

I am sure within a week of school starting, everyone will have forgotten that you haven't been there forever!

I'm so excited that you are a school secretary. Now we will have lots to talk about with our schools when it starts back up!

I totally understand about the mentally tired -- that is me most days! Glad you are enjoying it so much. :)

Hi! My name is Denise. I live near Charleston, SC. I [also] met *my* husband (who is from London) online. In a few weeks we'll celebrate our 4-year wedding anniversary. We miss England terribly, but are pretty happy here in our own little cottage.
Off now to have a look at your blog....Cheers!
