Today's BWOTD is an old-fashioned term:
"I fancy some elevensies, do you?"
'Elevensies' = mid-morning snack
This obviously derives from the fact that a mid-morning snack would be eaten around 11am. You used to hear this alot on TV and in person, but nowadays it is not as common. It's still a cute Brit' phrase though and most Brit's would know what you mean't by this.

I haven't heard this one. But I hope Bonnie is having some elevensies of milk and tuna.
Since my mom eats her regular lunch at around 11:00, I guess this wouldn't work for her. She also likes to eat dinner at 4:00 and isn't that tea time? We're having her adjust to eating at more like 5:30 because we're just NOT ready to eat at 4:00.

its been a long while since I have used that word..........someone commented on my use of "donkey's years" the other day.....I forget I am a "foreigner" in Canada some days!!!

I am an American expat in Scotland and when I was pregnant with child number 3, I discovered Elevensies which are now the name of an actual cereal bar made by Kellogg/NutraGrain. And of course it comes in the popular 'British' flavor of ginger!
