Brit' Word of the Day....

Today's BWOTD answers a question I was asked yesterday:

"Women in particular are binge drinking on alco-pops"

'Alco-pops' = soda like alcoholic drink in a bottle

Examples of these would be Smirnoff Ice, Black Ice, Bacardi Breezers...basically those fruit flavoured liquer based bottled drinks. They are hugely popular in the UK and coined this specific name which is basically an abbreviation for 'alcoholic-pop'.

Part of the reason they are so maligned, is it's easy to drink alot of them, as they don't really taste alcoholic and are just like pop and packaged as such.

I think that's a great definition of drinks in cans. I might start saying it.
