Really trying

....yup I am 'home alone' well not counting the excellent feline company and I am actually CHOOSING to watch American Football!! The Redskins vs The Giants, no clue where they're from but they must be big to be on Primetime.

So I am really seriously trying to understand and get into this sport now, even if I have no clue what's going on! ;-)

Yeah for football! It's our main sport, although we watch other things. We live for football season around here, though :) There are lots of other sports I know nothing about though, and don't really have a big desire to learn, so I admire your determination!

Mary is right - the Redskins are from the Washington DC area, and the Giants are one of two teams from New York. They're the NFC team (American football has two conferences, American or AFC and National or NFC - the champ from each division play each other in the Super Bowl). The other New York team is the Jets, which is an AFC team. You might have heard the brou-ha-ha a few weeks ago about Brett Favre leaving the Green Bay Packers and going to the Jets. Big deal, lots of drama :)

There, was that more info than you ever wanted to know about football? If not, just let me know! I will be glad to help if I can. :)

Thank you guys and especially Stacey for the explanation of the different leagues. Now I understand about the Superbowl too!

Well I stuck it out until the end, the hubster came in and pointed plays out to me...we're getting there!

Yes the leagues are important, plus remember that the rules will be a bit different from the college ball played on Saturdays. And there might be a few different rules with your high school team also. But generally = 4 tries to go ten yards and how you go about it, that is the essence of the game ...

First and Ten! Do it again!
First and ten! Do it again!
(Sorry, the pep club in me coming out right there)

The Giants... the New York Giants won the stupid, er Super Bowl last January ... and the Redskins are a Washington DC (not Washington State) team whose rivalry with the Giants is long standing.

I know nothing more about the game but Husband is a football freak.. sigh ...
