Halloween Shenanigans

Obama decided he just had to be here, election or not

The whole school stirring the 'Witches Brew'

A 4th grade Richard Simmons kept us entertained

We had our very own Queen Bee in attendance!

Wow do you guys ever know how to make cupcakes!

A gaggle of Queens, Princesses, a Beast and tiara's galore!

A 4th grade boy told me very seriously I looked lovely!

The overall winners, the adorable Mummy was #1

3rd grade turn on the style

This was my first Halloween as part of the school staff and now I understand why the teachers are glad it's just once a year! What with the costume excitement, the sugar-rush and it being a general party day, oh my we were all knackered by the end.

But it was alot of fun and everyone made a big effort with their costumes as can be seen here.

This is amazing! I love it! It brings back such memories for me. However, you're right. It wasn't my favorite holiday. It just brought out all the goofiness from the high wired kids. Still, on Halloween Day, it was still a lot of fun.

And you are lovely... in a ghoulish way today.

I love the Richard Simmons costume and I'm surprised the student even knows who that is! lol! Great job on your makeup Sarah.

Ha ha ! That "lovely" bit is as funny as when my 7 year old cousin told me (with a straight face) "you look just like a teenager."

Ah kids, ya gotta love 'em!

Looks like a great time to me:)

I can imagine how wired all those kids were!

Great costumes all around!

One of the schools I work at does Crazy Hat and Hair Day which allows for fun but keeps it relatively small scale. The other does not allow any recognition of Halloween for fear of upsetting the devoutly religious families in the community who believe Halloween is 100% evil. The irony is, those kids all stay home for the day anyway - probably because they don't believe us when we say we won't be 'doing' Halloween because they know the kids in the middle school DO get to wear costumes! There's nothing like a consistent policy!

What a hoot. I love halloween. Your make-up is Fab-u-lous!!! I too am surprised that they let teh whole school get into it ... I have heard of some schools not allowing any scary costumes.

Sarah, what a great costume you had!! I love to see all the kids having a great time. Our little trick or treaters here were really cute. Not many very creative costumes this year though.

I remember as a teacher that was one of the worst days to teach. That and the days just before a big holiday break.

Ditto to the comment directly before me. Nice to see so many adults joining in the fun.
Wait until you experience the last week of school before Christmas!!

I think you looked lovely too. You've got that gothic-sexy thing going on.

Have I said too much ?

Great costume Sarah. Halloween is exhausting though.

Glad you had fun, but I know what it's like to deal with all those kids on days when it's just one long 5 or 6-hour long party! *sigh*

Thank you all for the comments.

Mare I actually worked the whole week before Xmas last year as a sub' teacher at my school, so I know what to expect :-)

Stuart - LOL maybe if the hubster reads this!

I can't ever imagine our school giving this up, it's such a big tradition our costume contest. All the local business' donate prizes and lots come to watch.

Oh my, remember the days. Our doorbell only went four times this year, our neighborhood kids are growing up. I have loads of candy left. Trying not to dive into the left-overs!!! Good job Halloween only comes round once a year. Photos were great.
