So remember my New Years resolution?

To walk on my treadmill everyday, whatever, no excuses?

Yep well I clearly wrote it and then forgot it, because so far it just ain't happening! Oh how I HATE to exercise!

But I am not alone thank goodness and a couple of my work colleagues have also held their hands up and admitted the same. So we have agreed to walk straight after work 3 days a week from here on. We all agree the only way we are going to do it is with each other.

So that's where I'll be at 3:50pm today, pounding the local streets for a couple of miles with good friends. It's going to hit 71 here today, so the weather will give us no excuses not to go. In fact we may do it in record time, as we are also expecting 40mph winds, that will blow us along! Judging by other comments we have had, there may soon be a 'Limber Ladies of Education Walking Club' in our smalltown.

Do any of you exercise like this with friends, to keep your motivation going?

71 degrees. Agh! I will check back with you in August to see how the walking's going!
I usually do my treadmill on my own (in front of a TV) but take a yoga class with a friend on Friday mornings. I like the companionship but we talk a bit too much!

Walking is great although I do not normally do that with friends. Make sure you keep intensity up though.

Group/peer/whatever motivation does work so I babble to my friends & co-workers about when I am going to walk or exercise.

That helps keep me on task as I would be embarassed if I said I was going to do something and then did not try to do it.

I have lost 110 lbs over 10 months and have kept it off for about two years. Fast walking (and other exercises) play a big role in that.

Hubby exercises 4 times a week at 24 Hr Fitness.

The only exercise I get is typing every day and walking around the store and parking lot once a week.

Gave up on resolutions years ago! Walking however, don't do it often enough. I have various exercise equipment and neglect it all.

How funny, I just wrote on my blog about how much I hate to exercise. I really, really don't enjoy anything about it. Yes, I'm thinking I could use a little peer pressure to get going. Might give that a try.

I wish I could find someone to walk with; but like you, life has just sort of gotten in the way of my walking at all.

Good for you, Sarah.. It always is much more fun walking with others. You can keep each other accountable!!!! Good Luck!!!

71 degrees??? Oh that sounds heavenly after our whopping 7 degrees this morning.

After years of exercising on my own, I'm not sure I could 'do it' with others. We'd all fall off the treadmill for a start !!

I like to walk to music so again, it would probably put me off my stride, literally, having to chat as we'd go along.

Being a 'Biggest Loser' fan, I know how vital teamwork and motivation can be but you can still be motivated and exercise alone. My heart attacks tend to be motivation :-)

I always feel that walking with others is more likely to keep me going. So good luck to all the Limber Ladies of Education Walking Club.
One more thing: 71°? I'm envious.

I exercise alone dammit, which is interspersed with looking moodily at the horizon.

My friend, I run alone under the cover of night about 4 times a week to hide my horrid poncey running style!

Ughhh I am having such a hard time getting my exercise routine going again ... routinely!

When in the Twin Cities, I had an exercise room - and I loved, loved it! Treadmill, weights, two bikes, and "The View" for an hour every day. Now it is in storage, and so am I.

I wish I had some girlfriends nearby. Lucky you - good luck.

I'm in the habit of running with my ipod (I don't use headphones unless I'm on a trail and off the street.)

I run on Sunday mornings before church with a group of guys. Exercising with friends definitely makes it easier.

I go to a weighlifting class twice a week early in the morning.

I've been doing it for years.

Oh, yes! I walk quite frequently with my mom, and my boyfriend likes to tag along sometimes too. It's gotten to where I forget what it's like to walk alone!

Good luck! Excuse me, I must go and lie down, all this talk of exercise has made me quite faint.

I love walking! We have a dog so no matter how terrible the weather is, we have to go out with him. Every. day. for LONG walks.
