The Lips have it!

So I have a tendency to hoard things, including make-up! Granted it's all organised into little plastic units, by what it is and colour, but I am REALLY BAD at throwing make-up away. However a couple of months ago I did clear out some lipsticks, but these are the ones I kept!!

I had fun trying them all on, some of them were years old, but these ones are still viable. Now I'm certain to a guy alot of these look almost the same, but you see they're just not. The shade may be similar, but the texture can be totally different. I also happen to like shiny or sparkly lippies and so I need 'variations' on the same shade. I would liken this to a man having 10 wrenches/spanners that are all in different sizes!

They can be deceptive; see the one 2nd row, 2nd along that looks peachy/gold. Well actually it's a sheer 'Very Sexy' from Victoria's Secret, the glitter in it does all the work and there's minimal colour.

Oh and the ones that are pictured, well they're just the ones I could find quickly. You see I have at least 4 in my desk at work, any number spread across various handbags and at least 15 lipglosses that just weren't as photogenic! You will however note the absence of a true red, the Hubster thinks red makes me look tarty, so like a good wife I ditched the reds!

As you can probably tell, I am more of a 'pretty in pink' girl, with a leaning towards mauves. This is my current favourite, not too brash, pretty with a little bit of sparkle going on.

So who else out there hates to throw out make-up and could stock their local Walgreens, c'mon own up ladies?!

I love the pink, and I don't know if it helps, but they say (and is it just to get us to buy more?) that make up shouldn't be kept after so long, and that the chemicals can then do you harm?

Is it a myth? Love the photos!

I have a few tubes of lipstick I absolutely love. CLinique had one I loved to death and they got rid of it, the bastids. Anyway, I love lipstick and could horde it for eons. I don't wear it enough, though. I love all the colours you have and I totally get your reasoning in having so many!

I love these photos!!! And I am failing as a diva - I think I only have 2 or 3 tubes of lipstick in the house and handbag combined!!!

Fabulous photos! I'm ptthhhhtt in the diva category though! I have two colors (I had a Mary Kay fav--Toffee for years but it was discontinued), and a bunch of lip balms, but that's it!

OMG...I am you or you are me. I am a makeup junkie for sure. I have to go through my stuff and try and throw some out. Tisk
I am more of a pinky brown lipstick person and sparkles...love them! I think that I am too fair for light pink...so I add a little depth
I am loving your blog and I'm half English...

Love your lipsticks! I also hate throwing out perfectly good makeup, but I don't have a lot of it. I thought I had a lot of lipstick and gloss, but now realize I don't. :)

Oh, me, too! I probably have some ten year old lipsticks. But not as many as you do, I must say!! Won-der-ful pictures!!!

Now of course I don't wear make-up or lippie, but I do know quite a bit about it as Fabulous Other Half custom makes foundations and concealers for a perfect match and even lipsticks to the exact colour required!

Oh yes, there is a way you can recreate your favourite!

I was never a lipstick girl until recently ... don't know why ... but why oh why is it so dang expensive????? Maybe now that I am of a certain age it just makes me feel better?? But on another note, let's talk about your focus in those photos ...DIVINE. Love it. Great job. Must try.

Oh my word...and I thought one of my friends was the lipstick queen; she lived in Britain for a VERY long time though, so maybe it is a British thing : )

I do seem to buy the same shade over and over ... so recently I forced myself to buy two light pink shades ... and then I top it off with this GOLD subtle but shiny gloss from Smashbox

AND interesting fact, with the economy bad many women who love to shop are now spending less but buying LIPSTICKS!

Well I don't have as many as you but I am still really bad a chucking things out. AND I've just realised, mine are nearly all the same shade. How boring.

I'm confused... what's up with looking tarty? I like the tarty look!

You're so lucky you can wear many different colors. I'm stuck in a single area of the cool colors for life. Go you!

Excellent photography!

Great collection, Sarah...You have enough different colors to match all kinds of different outfits. I only have a couple of tubes now since I don't wear lipstick unless I'm dressing up to go somewhere special. (I'm a working in the yard or hiking kind of gal these days--now that I'm not working!!!!)

Have fun with all of your colors.
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh gosh. I have tons of lipsticks and glosses too, in fact I used to sell Mary Kay so I amassed a bunch. The thing is I don't usually use them except on ocassion, maybe once a month or two. Funny.

Lipstick - fabulous topic! I'm a lipstick collector too, but Africa spoils them much fast so I either have to keep them in the fridge, or buy a few at a time and use them up as much as I can. I also tend to buy several of a favourite, so that I can have one in my handbag(s), one in the bathroom and- you get the picture. Clinique is probably my favourite, although I don't mind choosing l'oreal when I want to try something new, and am not sure if I will LOVE it. :-)

I can't tell you the last time I wore lipstick! I hate the feel of it.

The last color I remember wearing was by Max Factor (I think) called Golden Frost. I think it was back in the early 60's!

I confess, I'm a lipstick trollop.
I tend to wear the same "Red" as the Queen...yes Lillibet herself !
It's something once you get used to wearing, you feel undressed without it.
Mine goes on everyday, even if I'm staying home, makes me feel...well, Regal :)

I almost never throw out my make-up which is crazy, of course. Don't they say you're supposed to throw out eye make up after 6 months? I do... maybe in 6 years. Your lipstick hardly looks used and they're all pretty!

I have a lipstick addiction. I am always looking for the perfect pink and the perfect red...perfect reddish brown....
My purse has a lipstick bag for the 'season' and the other season collection is under bathroom sink in the cool and dark.
MAC, Clinique, Almay, Bobbi Brown, Nars...lipstick, lip gloss, lip stain, shimmer, matte....sigh...I loves it all.....

I never wear make-up, except on special occasions. And that's not because I work from home, I've always been this way. Just too lazy to be bothered really. And I never wear lipstick ever. But then I always was a bit of an odd bod. :-)

I do have a few...
My fav at the moment is Estee Lauder "Crystal Coral" - I might add my girlfriend liked it so much when we were on vacation a while back, that she called me the other day on her way to Macy's to copy me!

Your lipstick collection reminded me of a Chart that was passed out at a Mary Kay meeting years ago - found the same thing when Googled: www.martinarmand.com/Lipstick_Shapes.html

Fun trivia. I'm like my name twin - just 2 or three counting all handbag (no I didn't forget the s) and gloss!

I love lipstick, several tubes and they all look the same, but like you said they're.

And for the commentor who likes the tarty look, so do I, that's why I wear red lipstick and have blue nails!

I also wear it cause my ex told me I wasn't allowed to, but that's a story for another day.
